Ever since the success of The Avengers movie, Marvel fans have been demanding a new solo Hulk movie. Edward Norton's portrayal of the character in The Incredible Hulk wasn't very popular, but now that Ruffalo is the face of the character, a Hulk movie is in high demand.

Unfortunately, Marvel can't just go ahead and make a Hulk movie on their own, seeing as the rights to a solo Hulk movie are currently held by Universal Studios. Marvel even had to collaborate with Universal to make The Incredible Hulk work.

According to a recent interview with Yahoo! Movies, Ruffalo stated that Marvel may be trying to make a solo Hulk movie work once more.

"I think they’ve been working on it. Marvel and Universal famously don’t get along very well, and so that’s working against us, definitely. But I know for a fact that everyone is holding out hope that one day we can do it. But the nature of the relationship right now, it’s a little prohibitive. And I hope that that changes, that changes with regimes, it changes over the course of time. But right now it doesn’t look particularly promising."

This obviously comes off as bad news for fans hoping to see a Planet Hulk or World War Hulk movie, because it doesn't look like Ruffalo will be smashing out on his own anytime soon. We can only hope that Marvel and Universal work things out as soon as possible, because a solo Hulk film would surely make both studios plenty of money with this many fans clamoring over it.

However, Ruffalo is set to reprise the great green giant again in the upcoming Thor sequel [Thor: Ragnarok](tag:956858). The details of his involvement aren't clear yet, but his inclusion in the film explains the absence of both Banner and Thor in next year's [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409).

That's probably for the best though. Nobody stands a chance against the Hulk.
