What movies are you excited to see next year? Will you go down the superhero route, or are you counting down the days until the first Star Wars spin-off?
Let's count them down!
12) Assassin's Creed
Fans of the popular game series have been eagerly awaiting a live-action film of Callum Lynch, who will be played by the quintessential Shakespearean actor Michael Fassbender. This movie has merged with a few set photos, but a trailer is yet to be released.
11) Ghostbusters (2016)
A female-driven remake of the classic Ghostbusters movie starring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. That will make the fans happy, right? Either way, whether you're excited or not, this film could be both a financial success and a recommendation from the critics...or a total flop. But we'll have to wait and see.
10) Finding Dory
A sequel to the original that, frankly, didn't really need one. But knowing Disney's reputation for bringing new ideas to the table, we could be in for a real treat. I just hope Bruce makes a return.
9) Doctor Strange
Similar to the production of Assassin's Creed (2016), we've only seen leaked set photos of Benedict Cumberbatch looking mysteriously brooding with his perfectly shaped mustache. Until a trailer is released, we'll have to wait patiently for the Sorcerer Supreme to rise to the silver screen.
8) Independence Day: Resurgence
Respect the Goldblum! He's back again and hopefully he'll still be recycling like a madman (that's a reference to the original, if you haven't seen it go see it!). If this movie can maintain the level of stupidity and comedic genius of the original, then we could be in for a real treat. DAVID!!!
7) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
More Turtles. Less Megan Fox. Bebop. Rocksteady. Foot Clan. Action. Dubstep. I can't wait! This really looks like the "Turtles" movie we should've got with the last. We're all about to get shell shocked!
Ryan Reynolds in a spandex outfit jumping around, cursing, blowing up skulls and breaking the fourth wall with raunchy humour is something we haven't quite seen from Marvel movies thus far. This will be a welcome change for die-hards and regular moviegoers.
5) X-Men: Apocalypse
Look, it's a teen movie with an X-Men title. No, I'm just kidding - although I'm not a huge fan of the X-Men, this could be a great combination of disaster and adventure. And Poe Dameron is Apocalypse...I guess the Resistance was just too small for him, huh?
4) Suicide Squad
If David Ayer, the director, can bring the visceral intensity he brought to Fury back in 2014, then we could be in for a terrifically deranged and crazy DC Comics movie. Hopefully by then we will have a Universe just as good as Marvel's.
3) Captain America: Civil War
"But he's my friend." "So was I." That line in the trailer alone is enough to get everybody excited for the battle that will surely define the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Whose side are you on?
2) Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
I have strong faith in this movie being just as good as we hope, especially with the great Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla 2014) behind the camera. The film will follow the events of a gang of relentless Rebel fighters as they attempt to gain control over the secret Death Star plans, which leads nicely into the events of A New Hope. This could turn into a great heist flick.
1) Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice
Despite the controversial trailer that was recently released, there is no denying that this will be many peoples most anticipated movie of 2016, including myself. Even the haters of Ben Affleck or the look of Doomsday will most certainly still be seeing the movie, as Andre from Black Nerd Comedy brilliantly stated.
