Now there are a whole lot of theories flying about since the millions of Star Wars fans flooded theatres to see Episode 7: The Force Awakens. Probably the most popular of all theories is that Rey (Daisy Ridley) is, in fact, the daughter of Luke Skywalker. This would make her granddaughter to Darth Vader and cousin to Kylo Ren. It would be a great way to tie the new trilogy to the originals, and would make a lot of sense because of a number of things I noticed and previously wrote about, which you can read here. For a little while, I even thought that she may be a Kenobi instead of a Skywalker, and you can read why here. But there is something I noticed that has swung me back towards the belief that she is a Skywalker, and this is what it is.

The Family Resemblance!

That's right! If circumstantial evidence doesn't prove that Rey is a Skywalker, we will have to use the resemblance between her and her family members to prove it! Now, many people have said that Daisy Ridley bears no real likeness to Carrie Fisher, who plays her supposed aunt Leia Organa, and this is true. HOWEVER that is not the only female in this family. While we have no idea yet who Rey's mother is, we do know that if Luke is her father, then her grandmother is...

That's right. I saw a story about Daisy Ridley saying how she hated being compared to Keira Knightley, and I would never do that. I'm going to compare her to Natalie Portman, but only for theoretical family related purposes. You see, Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman have always had a strong resemblance, which started when Keira was a handmaiden for Natalie's character Padme in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, and when I heard Daisy was often compared to Keira, I realised that she also has a strong resemblance to Natalie, who is Luke and Leia's mother in the films. So what could I do but go further? I went back another generation, which is as far as we can trace the Skywalker family back using the films. I went all the way to...

Shmi Skywalker!

That's right! Anakin (Darth Vader) was born on Tatooine to a (supposedly) virgin mother, Shmi Skywalker. It is unknown whether or not the force made her pregnant or what, but I won't get into any of the many, many plot holes from The Phantom Menace. The interesting thing is, look at that picture above, then at the one below.

I mean COME ON! It can be no coincidence that Daisy Ridley passes way more than merely a passing resemblance to both Luke's mother and grandmother!

While I could never say that this is definitive proof of Rey's lineage, it is surely another step towards the truth, that Rey will continue the story of the Skywalkers as the daughter of Luke!
