A few days ago, we reported on Forbes's published list of the most overpaid actors in Hollywood, with Johnny Depp leading the pack by returning a mere $1.20 for every $1 he was paid in 2015.
Yet as we have been shaking our heads in disbelief at the fact that we pay some high-profile actors top dollar for essentially nothing, the magazine has also been optimistically compiling a list of those stars who bring in the highest returns. Here's how they did it:
To compile our rundown of Hollywood’s Best Actors For The Buck, we used earnings estimates from our Celebrity 100 list. We looked at the last three films each actor starred in before June 2015. We did not include animated films, movies where the actor appeared in a very small role, or movies that were released on fewer than 2,000 screens.
The greatest thing of all, in my opinion, is that four out of five of the best actors for the buck are women -- a fact that will likely fuel the debate over gender pay disparity in Hollywood even further!
Take a look at who made the top five of the best actors for the buck:
1. Chris Evans
Whilst Depp has been raking in a (quite rightly!) embarrassing $1.20 for every $1, Chris Evans returns a colossal average of $181.80 for every buck. Well, he's not Captain America for nothing! Check out what he does best here:
2. Mila Kunis
Even though Jupiter Ascending was a bit of a flop by box office standards, this hasn't put much of a downer on Mila Kunis's success. In fact, the Ted actress is the best female actress for bringing in the cash in 2015 with a whopping $87.30 return for every $1 paid.
3. Scarlett Johansson
As the world's second-highest-paid actress, Scarlett Johansson ticks all the boxes, including bringing studios some of the highest yields. She presents $84.90 for every $1 she's paid.
4. Gwyneth Paltrow
Probably solely thanks to the $1.2 billion gross of Iron Man 3, Gwyneth Paltrow returns $82.90 for every $1. Here's the trailer:
5. Emma Stone
Last year, Emma Stone was in fact the best actor for the buck but unfortunately, the poor performance of Aloha impacted her standing in 2015. Yet, thanks to The Amazing Spider-Man 2, she still had a return of $54 for every $1 she was paid. Relive her outstanding performance:
