It's been a while since I've written about DC adaptations, the CW and especially the eagerly anticipated Legends of Tomorrow, which is due to hit the screens on January 21st. But we're on the final countdown to 2016 and we have to prepare ourselves for the return of Arrow and The Flash with a few legends in tow.
The CW has been pretty blunt about what we can expect from Legends; in fact, they've been saturating Arrow and The Flash with pre-Legends prep for months. By the looks of it we can expect time travel hijinks, super-villainy, a band of heroes — no... legends, and presumably plenty of crossovers with the Arrow and of course The Flash.
The previous trailer for Legends of Tomorrow introduced us to the premise of the show in addition to our main cast, including: Hawkman (Falk Hentschel), Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and The Atom (Brandon Routh). The show was depicted as reasonably dark, revealing our heroes fighting to stop the looming threat of Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) introduced to us in this season's crossover of Arrow and The Flash.
However, the CW has released a new teaser trailer ahead of the January release date and it suggests a lighter tone behind the inherent darkness of the show.
Have a look at the teaser trailer below.
"I say we go get weird in the '70s."
As you can see, the trailer shows our heroes in the '70s, geared-up and ready to fight. The sequence actually seems pretty fun and lighthearted; perhaps the creators have decided to take a Flash approach and stay cool despite the chaos. There have been mixed opinions about Legends, but with the best of Arrow and The Flash all in one show, I'll bet we're in for a hell of a ride!
On a side note, we've finally seen Heatwave (Dominic Purcell) included in a trailer; he's signed up for a fairly substantial role, so it's good to see him in action! Captain Cold's partner in crime was barely explored as a character, but I can see him becoming a fan favorite as his role is expanded.
You can expect me to write much more on Legends of Tomorrow when it premieres in late January, until then, have other look at the full-length trailer. Enjoy!
