UPDATE:

According to Entertainment Weekly, Hannibal star, Mads Mikkelsen has been CONFIRMED to be playing as the main villain for the Doctor Strange Movie. Let the speculation begin! This is what Feige has to say on the matter:

“Mads’ character is a sorcerer who breaks off into his own sect. [He] believes that the Ancient One is just protecting her own power base and that the world may be better off if we were to allow some of these other things through.”

As for Benedict Cumberbatch...

The cover to the latest Entertainment Weekly has revealed a series of images revealing Benedict Cumberbatch in full costume as Doctor Strange.

According to an article, Cumberbatch has not been in costume very often just yet on set. However, he took this photo-shoot as an opportunity to practice Strange’s signature, arcane hand gestures.

Cumberbatch goes on to say that,

“I’m still in the infancy of learning all that. It was like, okay, I’ve got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically. I’m thinking, there’s going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I’m still working on that. We haven’t played any of those scenes yet. I felt really self-conscious. But, then, by the end, it was great. It’s like anything, you just have to experiment.”
“There’s going to be crazy s**t going on."

Here's Benedict Cumberbatch as the Mystical Doctor Strange in All His Glory!

Just How AWESOME Does this Guy Look?!

This is TOO MUCH For My Eyes!

Is This THE Sanctum Sanctorum?

This image is titled "Chamber of Relics" but it certainly looks like this chamber will be part of Dr. Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum. For those of you not familiar with the Dr. Strange comics, the Sanctum Sanctorum is Stephen Strange's personal residence serving as his own headquarters, for his alter-ego as Dr. Strange, as well as the headquarters for the Defenders and the New Avengers. His magical fortress of sorts is an extremely crucial part of his story and MUST be part of the movie.

Stephen Strange

This concept art from the movie is definitely a scene after his accident in the hospital which eventually leads to Stephen Strange becoming one of the most powerful sorcerers in existence we all know as Dr. Strange.

This Simply Looks Stunning!

This will most likely be your reaction after viewing the images above:

Cumberbatch, himself, looks perfect as Doctor Strange and his pictures seem to have been ripped straight out of a comic book. His costume is identical to the one worn by his comic-book counter part.

Take a look for yourselves:

Apart from a few changes made to Cumberbatch's costume to make it more grounded and realistic, his first official image is breathtaking and incredibly comic-book accurate. He's styled his hair and grown a beard identical to Dr. Strange in the comics making him even more perfect for the role.

The official synopsis reads:

“Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.”
