It's 2016, and with this new year comes countless new movies to see! What movies, though, should you most definitely see? Which films sound so amazing they must be watched? I'm here to give you 12 movies (because there are 12 months) you must see this year.

1. 'Kung Fu Panda 3' (release date: January 29)

When I saw the first Kung Fu Panda, I thought it was good, but I didn't think it was anything exceptional. And then the sequel came out, I saw it, and I was completely blown away! If you haven't seen it, I suggest you do, like now (we'll wait for you). Kung Fu Panda 2 also ended with a shot of Po's father, perfectly setting up the duo-logy to become a trilogy. Many children and adults alike are excited to see what will become of Po and his friends.

2. 'Deadpool' (release date: February 12/Valentine's Day)

Despite the ironic release date, this movie is highly anticipated for many reasons: a) Deadpool was butchered in X-Men: Origins - Wolverine and is getting his second chance, b) Ryan Reynolds looks amazing as Deadpool, and c) Deadpool is so awesome, we need to see his own movie. The confirmation of an R-rating may push away some children, but it will please adults around the world to see an uncensored, very sexual, very violent Deadpool.

3. 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' (release date: March 25)

Who doesn't want to see this movie? It combines Batman and Superman against each other in a heated battle, and it will include Wonder Woman in her first live action movie, Lex Luthor, Doomsday, possibly other Justice League members, and possibly even Darkseid himself! There is so much to look forward to in this movie. Some even believe it could become the highest grossing film of all time.

4. 'The Huntsman: Winter's War' (release date: April 22)

Although the predecessor, Snow White and the Huntsman, may be a controversial topic, I believe that this prequel should get a watch. Starring such popular names as Thor himself a.k.a. Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron from Mad Max: Fury Road, Jessica Chastain, and even Emily Blunt, this movie is sure to make good money and at least be a decent movie, though I'd argue that it will be a great movie.

5. 'Captain America: Civil War' (release date: May 6)

Being yet another movie featuring a war between superheroes, [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409) is the third film in the Captain America trilogy, focusing on our beloved heroes being forced to deal for the damage they've caused. This movie brings together all of the heroes in the MCU (besides a few obvious exceptions), and it will introduce Spider-Man into the MCU, as well as Black Panther. After seeing the heartbreaking trailer, everyone can't wait to see how many tissues they'll use in the theaters.

6. 'Alice: Through the Looking Glass' (release date: May 27)

Through the Looking Glass is the sequel to the live action/CGI Alice in Wonderland. The plot is as follows:

When Alice wakes up in Wonderland, she must travel through a mysterious new world to retrieve a magical scepter that can stop the evil Lord of Time before he turns forward the clock and turns Wonderland into a barren, lifeless, and old world. With the help of some new friends, Alice must uncover a plot to put the Queen of Hearts back on the throne. - IMDb

Honestly, I'm just glad to see Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter again and to see how the Queen of Hearts will come into play.

7. 'X-Men: Apocalypse' (release date: May 27)

Coming out the same day as Alice: Through the Looking Glass, [X-Men: Apocalypse](tag:1194267) features many great actors and actresses, such as Oscar Isaac, Michael Fassbender, and even Jennifer Lawrence. Adding to the hype is the fact that one of the most popular villains of all time — within both Marvel and DC —Apocalypse, is the person trying to kill our favorite heroes. Now that its amazing trailer is out, the hype is at its height. Only the strongest will survive, indeed!

8. 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out of the Shadows' (release date: June 3)

This movie is shaping up to be a big money maker next year, not only because it has everyone's favorite turtles, but because it brings in Arrow's Stephen Amell as Casey Jones and brings in two fan favorite villains: Beebop and Rocksteady. Just think of the great humor that will come out of Michelangelo and Casey Jones together and the great action sequences that will come from seeing Casey Jones fighting alongside the Turtles. Plus, we're going to see the Turtle Truck!

9. 'Finding Dory' (release date: June 17)

Oh, come on, you knew this was coming. Every child, teenager, and adult wants to see this! Finding Nemo is so beloved that we all want to see our favorite supporting character get her own movie! Dory is just too awesome. And judging by the trailer, it will live up to the hype and deliver us a sequel just as good as the original film. Plus, if Dory's family (supposing we do see them) is anything like Dory, we may die of laughter.

10. 'Star Trek: Beyond' (release date: July 22)

Now I'm more of a Star Wars fan, personally — what with it being my first sci-fi experience and all — but there's still a spot for Star Trek. And I'm sure that's the case for many people. Many people did not like the second installment in the modern reboot, but everyone's excited for this. What's next for Kirk, Spock, and Bones? Well, we just have to wait until July 22 to find out, which might as well be three years for everyone wanting to see this movie!

11. 'Suicide Squad' (release date: August 5)

Still eight months away from its release date, Suicide Squad has already broken a record: It is the first comic book movie to focus on the villains instead of the hero/heroes. Then we have fan favorite Batman villains: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Killer Croc, and Joker — played by Jared Leto — appearing in the movie, making all comic book fans' dreams come true. And although it is true that there is much controversy over the topic of Leto's new Joker and more, Suicide Squad will definitely attract everyone to the theaters.

12. 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' (release date: December 16)

While many are still trying to come back to reality after Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the next Disney-produced Star Wars movie, Rogue One, is gradually making its way to the theaters. Taking place in between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, Rogue One follows a group of Rebels as they valiantly steal the plans to the Death Star. The time before A New Hope has been a place of mystery, so learning what happened will add much to the Star Wars Universe!
