Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens (2015) has been breaking records left and right, even becoming the fastest movie to reach 1 billion dollars at the box office.
The fascinating blend of old and new characters has won the hearts of fans and critics alike. However, who are the people behind these new characters?
Here is an article on Daisy Ridley to give you a perspective on who she really is when she is not kicking ass as the wonderful Rey:
She was born in Westminster, London.
Her great-uncle was actor and playwright Arnold Ridley, who played Private Godfrey in Dad's Army (1968–77).
Daisy Ridley was cast in Youngers (2013) straight out of school.
She graduated from the Tring Park School for the Performing Arts in Hertfordshire.
Before starring in Stars Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) Daisy deleted the entire video reel featuring her previous work from her personal website.
Here is how she justified her decision in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:
I wanted it to be so people could just concentrate on this. I’m so proud of what I’ve done before, but I wanted it to feel fresh. Which is what I think everyone else wanted, because everyone wanted just to see me as Rey and not as the people I’ve played before, even though the jobs I’ve done before are amazing and obviously led me to this incredible point. So here I am.
Stars Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) marks Ridley's first appearance in a feature film.
Before starring in Episode VII she had only appeared in the TV programmes Youngers, Silent Witness, Toast of London, Mr Selfridge and Casualty, as well as the short films Blue Season and Crossed Wires.
Daisy is a great swimmer and is also skilled at ice skating, pilates, pool, roller blading, running, and tennis.
I am sure that her physical capabilities were put to good use while shooting The Force Awakens (2015).
Daisy Ridley is a decent singer and is skilled at cabaret and jazz singing and has a mezzo-soprano voice.
She can also do some ballet, violin and tap dancing.
Ridley will voice the lead role of Taeko in the English dub of the Studio Ghibli film Only Yesterday (1991).
The English dubbed version is set to be released on the 26th February, 2016 and Dev Patel, Ashley Eckstein and Alison Fernandez are also going to star.
She is the youngest out of five sisters.
Here is what Ridley said regarding her family in the aforementioned interview with Entertainment Weekly:
I've got sisters. I'm the youngest of actually five. We have been watching the movies again, and my middle sister is super excited. Last year when we were filming, everyone came round and we had dinner and watched Episode IV, A New Hope, which was super cool.
So, there you have it, I hope you've enjoyed reading this post! Do you know an interesting piece of trivia regarding Daisy Ridley or any other Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) cast member?
