It's award season yet again folks. Yes it's that time of year when Hollywood gives itself a big pat on the back for a long year of hard work. Stars are hoping for some recognition. Some may even be hoping to EGOT like a certain Tracy Morgan character (Yes, that's a 30 Rock reference). November to February brings us award show after award show leading up to the big one...

The Academy Awards!

It's the biggest award show of the year. Everyone in the film industry gets honored... Or do they? Due to its short nature, there is no recognition for cameo appearances at these awards ceremonies. This is a real shame this year, as there have been some great cameos in 2015 that would be great to see replayed at the awards ceremony! Although they're short, cameos involve time and work for the actor, the writers, director, wardrobe, make-up, casting, and so on - all for a little nod for us fans!

For obvious reasons, it's unlikely that there would ever be an Oscar for Best Cameo Appearance, but it got me thinking. Who would win this theoretical award for 2015? Well, in my opinion, the nominations are...

Jimmy Fallon - 'Jurassic World'

Jimmy Fallon had a great little cameo appearance in this summer's Jurassic World. He played himself as a video-guide to the park. He was great and we all had a little laugh before everything went completely nuts like they always do in a Jurassic movie.

Simon Pegg - 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Simon Pegg is in just about every big franchise these days. First Star Trek, then Mission Impossible, now he makes an appearance in [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](tag:711158)... Well, he kind of makes an appearance. Simon plays Unkar Plutt. I won't spoil anything. I'll just say you never see Simon's face. However, his physical acting as well as his voice work made this a very cool character.

Daniel Craig - 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Daniel Craig (yes, James Bond himself!) also had a cameo in [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](tag:711158). Without spoiling it (because his scene is just great), Daniel does a great job and his scene is one of my favorites of the film.

Stan Lee - 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and 'Ant Man'

Stan is not only the generalissimo, he's the king of cameos. He's been in almost every Marvel film. His cameos range from short glance shots like in the end of The Avengers to longer scenes with multiple main characters like the party scene in [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](tag:293035). He's the expert at making cameo appearances and would likely win this award most years!

In fact, the idea of a 'Best Cameo' award was actually Stan Lee's idea from the beginning!

Stan Lee's YouTube channel published this video on May 3rd of 2012, but nothing has changed since in the eyes of the Academy. Naturally, I wholeheartedly agree with Stan that there should be an award for Best Cameo. They are great, and we all love seeing our favorite actors pop up in big movies! Stan makes a good point here when he says that people put in a lot of effort to make these cameos happen. Surely they deserve some recognition. But the real question is...
