It's done, it's finished it's in the can. Ash vs. Evil Dead Season 1 ended on a high note with a frenzied battle in the cabin. Ash made a deal with the devil so to speak and called a truce for his friends. An El Jefe to the end? Probably not, but certainly Ash has a good heart. 'The Dark One' brought back deadite Amanda again, as Ruby showed her true colors and finally we entered the fruit cellar, ah ah ah.......

"I'M GONNA SWALLOW YOUR SOUL"

Deadite Amanda arguably wins hands down the best living dead demon of the series. She seriously kicked ass as a deadite. The Dark One immediately follows up from episode 9 and Amanda shows up at the cabin in one final battle with Ash. She even says the immortal words from Evil Dead 2, 'I'll swallow your soul.' After a furious battle, Ash uses his chainsaw driving it into Amanda's guts before slicing her with the chainsaw still in her belly and that's it for Amanda, now she is well and truly deadite meat.

THE FORCE IN THE WOODS

Remember the first time you ever saw The Evil Dead? One thing that always came out of those movies was Sam Raimi's relentless camera work and his technical crew who created the swaying and dodging 'force' in the woods. We've seen it a few times during this Season 1 run, but with all the chaos going on at the cabin, seeing it again swirling through the woods in between it was just nostalgic heaven. Hats off to The Dark One's director Rick Jacobson!

ANY TAKERS FOR THE FRUIT CELLAR ?

After the fight between Ash and Amanda, Pablo is sent down to the fruit cellar with evil Ruby who has her intentions to bring even more evil into the world. Ash, Kelly and Heather are now left 'upstairs,' so to speak, and Ash must face his biggest fear going back down to that damn fruit cellar. The same cellar of course that was used to huge effect in the first two Evil Dead movies — basically this is where the dead sleep. Ash decides to go down first, but the force from the woods shatters the windows of the cabin first and Ash falls down the steps of the cellar and ends up...

AT THE BEGINNING OF EPISODE 1

That's right folks, Ash is transported back to his trailer with the woman he brought back there some night to share some smokes with. And we're back in the pilot episode — only Ash vs. Evil Dead could be this cool! The woman wants Ash to read from the book that started all of this chaos off in the first place. But Ash realizes what's going on and says no way. Suddenly Ruby appears and makes Ash an offer he probably can't refuse: Let her be the gatekeeper of all evil and she will put his world back together again like nothing had ever happened. After dwelling on his situation, Ash refuses and goes to shoot Ruby, she lets out a demonic scream and Ash finds himself back in the fruit cellar and in a lot of pain. Maybe he should have taken that deal?

JAKE 'BOBBY JO!' IS BACK!

Pure brilliance here, Ash in the fruit cellar comes across the corpse of Jake from Evil Dead 2 complete with dungarees dressed on a skeleton. We all loved that and many an Evil Dead fan would have been jumping for joy at this scene. Jake of course is probably best remembered as screaming out 'Bobby Jo' during what seemed like most of the sequel.

THE CABIN GOES INTO ATTACK MODE

The cabin awakes and the first to be chucked out is Kelly, who now can't find a way in. Meanwhile Heather is stuck upstairs on her own and is assaulted by the forces. A sofa chucked on her already damaged leg, a few pins thrown into her face, and then she is dragged into another room. Meanwhile a frustrated Kelly attempts to set fire to the cabin.

HEADS UP HEATHER!

Heather's fate is sealed when the cabin chucks body parts of her out onto the front porch for Kelly to see. Deadite Heather squirms and squeals, telling Kelly that Pablo has no chance and that the cabin will claim them all. At that Kelly gives the most epic fail at throwing a deadite head. With Heather's confirmed death, that's all three original hikers gone. Lesson learned: go hike elsewhere.

PABLO THROWS UP A DEADITE KID

Ash catches up with Ruby and Pablo where Ruby is reading inscriptions from the book of the dead. Pablo still has the mask stuck on his face and is now 80% possessed. He suddenly throws up what seems to be a new born deadite, Ash is literally gobsmacked and remembers the reasons he never had kids. The deadite kid hunts down Ash in the fruit cellar before giving a good fight, Ash slices it to death. Or does he? Or was there just more than one? Because another deadite kid is seen later on running around in the episode.

WANT TO BEAT ASH? JUST MENTION JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA

Ash storms into the room where Ruby and Pablo are — but a now possessed Pablo attacks Ash who has no intentions of fighting his friend. But he may just have to kill him, that is until the chainsaw juice runs out. Pablo grabs Ash's gun and goes to shoot him before Kelly arrives, setting fire to the outside of the cabin forcing the cabin's windows open. Pablo attacks Kelly while Ash gets his gun back and shoots at Ruby. With Kelly dying, Ruby offers Ash another chance to escape the evil. Let her be the gatekeeper of all things evil and all of this will end. She is holding a postcard of Jacksonville, Florida the place that Ash longs to be, and seeing that there is no end to the evil he agrees. The mask flies off of Pablo's face and they are all free to go. They get in the car and on the radio hear that sinkholes are appearing out of nowhere. Deep down Ash knows there's gonna be trouble, Pablo and Kelly simply know it's inevitable — the car goes out of view as we leave the cabin and a new sinkhole appears...

NO MORE MR. NICE GUY - SEE YOU FOR SEASON 2

That's it until probably October — Ash vs. Evil Dead Season 1 was a great debut for the show. Critics loved it, look around the web and you won't see a bad review. Ash, Pablo and Kelly somehow survived the chaos of it all, and if you did we'll see you around for another 10 episodes of the show at least. And what a way to end the season with Mr. Alice Cooper with 'No More Mr. Nice Guy' followed up by the AC DC classic 'Back in Black.' A great song that seemed like a nod to fans that wanted Ash fighting the dead and got it. Stay tuned for this week as I will be posting a summary, a rundown and statistics from this debut season all in one gory, bloody article. Thanks for reading! For now, roll on Season 2.
