News has been few and far between for Disney's upcoming princess film Moana, but finally fans have been gifted a little more information in the form of a 30 second long preview on the Disney Channel!
While the clip doesn't actually contain any dialogue from the characters, we do get a little footage of the main characters Moana (voiced by 14-year-old newcomer Auli'i Cravalho) and Demi-God Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson), as well as their animal sidekicks Pua and Heihei. Take a look at the clip below:
Pretty cool, right! There's definitely enough beautiful footage there that makes me certain Moana is going to be amazing.
First up we have a few shots of gorgeous Moana, the 16-year-old heroine of the film. The name 'Moana' means "ocean" or "lake" in many Pacific Island languages, and her flowing hair definitely reminds me of waves.
The next piece of footage is off the larger-than-life Maui, who is interestingly described as "once powerful." What happened to Maui's powers will surely be explained in the film, but perhaps this is the reason why he ends up accompanying Moana on her journey?
We also get a few still shots of the two characters, including two which seem to indicate that Moana's sidekick is Pua the pot-bellied pig, and Maui's sidekick is Heihei the rooster. Maui is also accompanied by his mighty fish hook, which according to Pacific legend is made from the jaw bone of his grandmother:
