(click on the hashtag for all the latest news related to the movie) will continue where Star Wars 7 left off, diving back into the story of Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). The story looks set to follow Rey, Fin, and Poe's journey and Luke's character will play a much larger role (which wouldn't be difficult!) in this chapter. Between the mysterious title and the tantalizing teaser trailer that was released in April, it's safe to say December can't come soon enough.

2. Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo

  • Release date: May 25, 2018
  • Directors: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller
  • Cast: Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton

The second of the spin-off Star Wars movies is the eagerly anticipated anthology, which will chronicle the early life of our favorite smuggler from a galaxy far, far away. Alden Ehrenreich, the breakout star from the Cohen brothers' Hail, Caesar!, is playing young Han Solo. Since much of the Star Wars history is now labelled non-canon, the as-yet-untitled Han Solo Anthology will give legendary Star Wars writer Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back and The Force Awakens) the chance to really leave a mark, as this will unfortunately be his final contribution to the franchise.

Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the Han Solo Anthology has the potential to become a fan favorite, and will pave the way for a much broader Star Wars cinematic universe.

3. Star Wars: Episode IX

  • Release date: May 24, 2019
  • Director: Colin Trevorrow
  • Cast: Mark Hamill, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong'o

As the third movie of the new trilogy, Star Wars: Episode IX will be the final chapter of the saga. While there's still little information about the Star Wars 9 plot, we can count on to make the movie a massive production and end the trilogy with a bang. Hopefully, we'll also have everything we need to know about Luke's mission and Supreme Leader Snoke's identity by then! Star Wars 9 will be directed by Jurassic World's Colin Trevorrow and written by the Episode VIII director Rian Johnson.

4. Star Wars Anthology: Boba Fett

  • Release date: 2020
  • Director: TBA
  • Cast: TBA

Though development details are still extremely vague, the final Star Wars anthology (that we know of) is rumored for release in 2020, and will chronicle the adventures of infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett. There's potential for it to tie Rogue One with the Han Solo movie, creating a trilogy of anthologies that don't center around the Jedi and the Skywalkers.
