The rumor mill kicked into full swing late November 2015 when pictures of Les Misérables star Anne Hathaway appeared in public with hints that she was carrying more than a little holiday weight.

Confirmations rolled in via speculation from a source who claimed:

"Anne is in her second trimester and feeling great!"

While the news of a tiny Hathaway gracing the Earth was terribly exciting, these rumors remained just that, rumors. That was until earlier today, when the actress decided to take control of the speculation and deliver the news herself. Posting an uncharacteristically candid shot of herself in swimwear, the star can be seen beaming and holding what is most definitely a little bun in the oven. And, we couldn't be happier for her.

The post stated:

"Happy 2016 to my beautiful Instafriends!

So, posting a bikini pic is a little out of character for me, but just now while I was at the beach I noticed I was being photographed. I figure if this kind of photo is going to be out in the world it should at least be an image that makes me happy (and be one that was taken with my consent. And with a filter :)

Wishing you love, light and blessings for the year ahead!"

The child will be Hathaway's first with husband Adam Shulman, who she married in 2012.

The Oscar winner once commented to British newspaper The Daily Telegraph,

"I'll start with one healthy kid but I'd like to have a few naturally and adopt. I gotta get on it, you know? I'd like to have as many as I can afford, not just financially but in terms of time, because you want to make sure each one feels special."

Hathaway's next film will be Alice Through the Looking Glass, reprising her original role of Mirana of Marmoreal a.k.a. the White Queen in Tim Burton's trippy reimagining of the Lewis Carroll classic tale. Set for theater release May 27, 2016.
