More details have come to light regarding the much anticipated Alien Covenant, this time from long-time Ridley Scott collaborator and costume designer, Janty Yates.
During an interview with Collider, the Oscar-winning costume designer, revealed that the film will take place, “10 years in the future beyond Prometheus."
Yates who has worked on every Ridley Scott movie since she took home the Academy Award for her work on Gladiator in 2000 continues:
“[It’s] not so much of a spacesuit movie. There are two different spacesuits in it. We are only carrying on one look from Prometheus, which is with David."
Take what you will from these golden snippets but maybe the scarcity of spacesuits in the new movie could suggest an alien stand-off in the confined limits of a vessel/space station much like the original Alien movies?
The official synopsis for Alien: Covenant was released in November 2015 and reveals that the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Delighted as we are that the always magnificent Michael Fassbender will be gracing our screens as the capricious and sporadically murderous David, the omission of Noomi Rapace’s, Elizabeth Shaw has got everyone wondering if she will be absent from the new movie. It certainly seems that way.
The movie isn't due to hit theaters until October 2017 giving the ever talkative Ridley Scott plenty of time to overshare the lock-and-key details of the upcoming movie with his ever attentive fans.
