Ronnie Raymond seemingly died at the start of The Flash's second season, sucked into the wormhole during the Season 1 finale. In early December Robbie Amell posted a photo on his Facebook account teasing a possible return for his character.

Later, a photo tweeted by Canadagraphs seemed to confirmed Ronnie's return on the show:

Entertainment Weekly then confirmed Amell's return and exclusively revealed that we'll see his Earth 2 counterpart who took a much darker path than our beloved hero. Team Flash will be facing the villain Deathstorm as stated by EP Andrew Kreisberg:

“We are beyond excited to have Robbie back on The Flash. You can’t keep a good Firestorm down. Only this time, he’s back with a twist, a deadly Earth-Two version of our beloved Ronnie in the form of Deathstorm.”

Who is Deathstorm ?

In the comics, Deathstorm was the resurrected version of Ronnie Raymond and a member of the Black Lantern Cops during the events of Blackest Night. He was created by Nekron, the Lord of the Unliving with the only purpose of eliminating all forms of life.

Of course we won't see any of that because there is no Green Lantern... So, we'll probably see a completely original take on his character.

Given that Earth 2 often mirrors its counterpart, it is highly possible that Ronnie and Caitlin are still married and that their relationship reflects the one we knew on Earth 1. It seems that Killer Frost and Deathstorm are set to become the new Bonnie and Clyde of the show.

The Flash season 2 returns January 19th on The CW.
