Happy 2016 everyone! I think it's safe to say 2015 was a great year for TV and movies. With Star Wars: The Force Awakens going far beyond our expectations for the franchise reboot and shows like Jessica Jones airing on Netflix, it's gonna be hard to pick my favorites. But here's to another great year! Here's my 2015 Quick Fire Challenge!
1. Best Trailer of 2015: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2
There were so many incredible trailers this year but in terms of one that got me so pumped for the movie I'd have to go with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2. I've been a big fan of the series since I read the books when they first came out. Knowing what was going to happen but not knowing exactly how they'd do it in the movie made the anticipation unbearable.
2. Your Favorite Movie Moment of 2015: The Force Awakens Intro
My favorite movie moment of 2015 is probably a little more unconventional than most other people's favorite moments. Now I was nearing final exam week in school when The Force Awakens premiered so I had no intention of going to see it until afterward. Regardless, I made the (probably bad) decision to go see it opening night anyways. The closest theater to me is pretty tiny. Nothing to brag about, they don't even have IMAX for pete's sake. This is when the moment came. When the lights went down and the music started. I just remember a huge smile spreading across my face. I'd been waiting so long for this moment and it was just an incredible feeling. Everyone was clapping and cheering. By far my favorite movie moment of 2015. Not to mention the movie was better than I could have ever imagined!
3. Your Favorite Character of 2015: Sadness
As much as I want to say Kilgrave was my favorite character of the year, I have to go with Sadness from Inside Out based on the fact that she taught me, or rather showed me that it's ok to be sad. Her along with Joy showed us that sadness is an integral part of life and being sad makes the joyful times that much more joyful. I thought this movie altogether was so profound and extremely moving. I feel that it is an important movie for kids and parents and really just anyone to see. It explains the emotions in such a realistic way even though it's an animated movie. Not to mention Phyllis Smith's voice was literally perfect for the character.
4. Entertainment Person of the Year: J.K. Rowling
Anyone who has read my posts, seen the majority of things I share on Facebook and Twitter or seen my collection of wands and funko pop figures knows that I have a slight obsession with Harry Potter. This lady doesn't help with that obsession either. J.K. Rowling constantly keeps Harry Potter fans on their toes with the little bits of information she posts on the franchise. From the American word for muggle to the cost (or lack there of) to attend Hogwarts, there will always be something new for her to reveal to the fans she clearly knows she has in the palm of her hand. I doubt that we will ever see an end to the flow of facts that she puts out, and I'm not complaining.
5. What Was Your Favorite Article (Created By You) in 2015?
My Harry Potter Meme Monday post was definitely my favorite post this year! I wrote it as a part of the MPU program and I am so proud of how it came out! I still read it every once and a while for a good chuckle. Check it out here!
BONUS Question: What are you most excited for in 2016?
Definitely Captain America: Civil War. I've read the Civil War comics and am very interested (albeit nervous) to see how they'll adapt it into a movie. Plus the Winter Soldier is back. How could it not be epic?! But this isn't even fair! There are so many movies coming that I can't wait to see: BvS, Deadpool, Suicide Squad... 2016 is definitely going to be an incredible year!
My new years resolution: write more posts for MP! I wish everyone a year of great success and happiness! Stay weird, my friends!
