The 6 episode TV series adaptation of John Marsden's beloved Tomorrow When the War Began young adult fiction series is well and truly on its way, airing on ABC3 from April 2016.
Though the sneak-peek teaser will look very familiar to fans of the 2010 film adaptation, of course covering the same content set within the same glorious outback Australian backdrop, the teaser gives glimpses of where the TV series will differ from the film - and, indeed, the book - such as the conversation between adult captives.
Though originally published and set in the 1990s, the series for TV takes place during the present day, with the technological advances - and subsequent loss of when the power goes out - that come with it.
Ellie Linton, a teen from an Australian coastal town, leads her friends on an excursion to a camp deep in the woods, dubbed "Hell." Upon their return, the youths find that their town has been overrun by an enemy army, and their friends and family have been imprisoned. When the hostile invaders become alerted to their presence, Ellie and her friends band together to escape -- and strike back against -- this mysterious enemy.
