I adored Daisy Ridley as Rey in Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens and I can't be the only one; the movie was so successful it beat Titanic's box office earnings with a cool $686 in 15 days.
Young star Daisy Ridley — who had only been in a handful of British TV shows before Star Wars VII — is loving her life as Rey, but she's found another project to work on in the long wait for Star Wars VIII in 2017.
Check out the trailer, you'll recognize her voice!
Yup, Daisy Ridley's new movie is a voiceover role for the Studio Ghibli animated film Only Yesterday. The movie has been waiting for an American release for 25 freaking years, but Ridley should be used to that kind of pressure after taking a lead role in Star Wars!
Daisy Ridley spoke to EW about her new movie:
“I think the reason probably this is such a loved film and will continue to be so is because it doesn’t feel foreign. It feels exactly right, like, how do you make your dreams come true?”
Director Isao Takahata's Only Yesterday is set in the '80s and sees 27-year-old Taeko (Ridley) leave her native Tokyo to visit relatives in the countryside and reflect on her life. You can hear Daisy Ridley talk about the project in this lovely interview with EW:
Only Yesterday opened at the New York IFC Center on January 1 but will only be released in selected theaters around the US in February.
