Great Scott! Turns out Christopher Lloyd doesn't want to go back in time to relive his days as Dr. Emmett Brown, he'd happily reprise his role as the crazy inventor for a new Back the Future: Part IV no question.

The classic time-traveling Back to the Future franchise has certainly seen a resurgence over the past year with the recent passing of October 21, 2015, the 'futuristic' date in which the second movie Back to the Future: Part II was based.

And while we've been reminiscing about hover boards, self tying shoes and flying cars, Christopher Lloyd has been fantasizing about what comes next for Doc Brown and Marty.

Although a Part IV in the series is highly unlikely, Lloyd, now 77, admitted in an interview with THR in October, "I would love to do Doc again, no question."

The actor goes on to imagine the challenges they would face in reigniting the flux capacitor:

"It's tough to come up with an idea that contains the excitement of the original three, so it would be a real challenge for the writers to come up with an original Back to the Future story that has the same passion and intensity and excitement as the other three. But it could be done, you never know,"

Lloyd is even confident that his co-star and long time friend Michael J Fox would "jump on the role":

"I think regardless of the Parkinson's, he'd probably jump on the role and he'd be great"
Adding - "He's just so warm and smart and has such courage coping with the Parkinson's. He's indomitable. He's just great to be around."

Doc Brown certainly has dreams of getting the entire original team involved... including the DeLorean:

"I would certainly want Bob Zemeckis directing it, Bob Gale writing it and the other principals being involved.
And, of course, there has got to be a DeLorean. It was such a perfect choice for the film. It looked so speedy and futuristic."

We agree with you there Doc.

We can all dream about the possibilities of watching Doc and Marty getting caught up in another time travel mis-adventure but the original trilogy is so good that it would probably be blasphemy to taper with a series that just cannot be bettered.

And for those who aren't happy to simply envisage the future part IV within the confines of their own brain, one avid fan has put together a hilarious Back to the Future: Part IV parody trailer featuring dinosaurs, pirates, Kim Kardashian as president and Lindsay Lohan who appears to have kidnapped her younger self.
