"It's been over two years since Pablo transitioned and it still affects me today."
The closing of a year and the beginning of a new is always a time for reflection, and unfortunately, that often involves reminiscing about time spent with a loved one no longer with us. Although celebrities often seem omnipotent and indestructible, the reality of losing someone dear escapes no one, and Vin Diesel knows this as much as the next person.
However, rather than dwelling on the past, Vin Diesel is using the experiences he had with his brother (from another mother) Paul Walker, who passed away tragically in a car crash in 2013.
While roaming around on a stunning beach (an enviable way to welcome in the New Year), Diesel talks to the camera about how he felt 'guided' by Walker (affectionately nicknamed Pablo) to come to this spot:
"It's been over two years since Pablo transitioned. And he still affects me today. I actually travelled and felt he's guiding me, even today. So I surprised my family and took them away for new years. To a place that Pablo always talked about. He used to call it healing, a place to get away and a place to recharge your batteries and boy was he right."
Well, if the clear blue sky and lapping shore are anything to go by, we can certainly imagine that Paul Walker's favorite spot is brimming with healing qualities. And those positive energies will definitely be needed, as when Vin Diesel gets back to reality he must transform again into Xander Cage.
"Later in the year I will have to turn back to Dom Toretto, So in some ways I guess I was closing out the year in planting the seeds for that character. In trying to be as receptive as a could be so I went to the place that he's always told me to go to. "Happy new y-"
Happy new y- to you too, Vin!
