There is a reason why Disney films still resonate past that of your childhood. They don't seem to shy away from a wide range of themes as well as aspects of life, including death. From a young age, many of us learn about death via the medium of film and television, many of which will be Disney.

Amidst the usual heart warming stuff Disney movies are made of, lies the following painful, traumatic death scenes that never fail to bring a tear to our eyes, no matter what age we are! With this in mind, here is the ten most traumatic deaths Disney have ever put on film:

In case you're not able to watch the video right now (you could always subscribe and watch it later!), here's the top ten that you can see in the video...

Coral the Clownfish's death in Finding Nemo is incredibly heartbreaking. It leaves Marlin alone to tend to their one remaining egg, Nemo. Disney has taught us that the sea is a scary place!

Disney's animated appliance movie plunges into dark realms with a sort of human-centipede sequence, believe it or not!

4. The Princess And The Frog

The Shadow Man from the Princess and the Frog is dragged to his death in the crazy, lucid and terrifying scene that resembles a bad acid trip. Truly one of the most traumatic scenes Disney has ever conjured up, but it's still not as emotional as our final three...

3. Up - Ellie

No words.
No words.

Up features one of the most heartbreaking openings to any films EVER. The tragic tale of Ellie & Carl is sure to bring even the most hardened viewer to a bumbling mess. Admit it, you cried like a baby during this scene!

2. Bambi - Bambi's Mother

A classic Disney film, Bambi features one of the most intense and traumatic deaths which has almost become synonymous with the film itself. There are even people who refuse to watch Bambi now that they are grown up due to the emotional exit of Bambi's mother. Hang in there, Bambi!

And finally, the most emotionally devastating death scene in any Disney movie has got to be...

1. The Lion King - Mufasa

This is a lot of viewers's favourite Disney film. The Lion King tells the story of a young lion cub, Simba, and his quest to become King. However, his journey includes the violent and completely traumatising death scene of his majestic father, Mufasa, who wins the hearts of the audience in the film's opening scenes. We all remember the trauma of witnessing Mufasa's death, and the scene is emotionally powerful enough to firmly be placed at the top of this list.
