Introductions can be misleading. Articles are posted and sometimes the writer seldom gives any personal insight. I want to kick of my time posting on MoviePilot with a little insight into the stuff that inspires me to be the best storyteller I can be.

Behold Mt. Rushmore! Deep in the Black Hills of South Dakota lies a sculpture carved into granite. Our greatest presidents watch over our nation. Their influences felt until this day. It is an iconic symbol that represents what this country is about. So....I demolished it and repurposed the sculpture by putting the directors that have influenced my journey in filmmaking.

The directors are Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Martin Scorsese, and Akira Kurosawa. It is in no particular order but certainly pushes the conversation as to what makes a director great and if maybe four options is even enough! However these are my choices and it represents over 150 awards received, over 70 films directed, and all ranging from the early 1940s until present day. In style they achieved consistency while creating works that stretch across all genres of film.

And for those of you not familiar with any of their films, I suggest these as for a director viewing starter pack: Pulp Fiction (Tarantino), Moonrise Kingdom (Anderson), Goodfellas (Scorsese), Yojimbo (Kurosawa).

I hope to see or hear about your Mt. Rushmore! Make it for anything! Cartoon characters, actors, musicians, etc. Whatever has inspired you please share!
