Kara and Non engage in an epic battle ending with Non kidnapping Hank. While trying to secure Lord Technologies, Lord kicks the DEO out, making Kara and Alex think that he is hiding something. Alex is promoted to acting director in Hank's absence and the DEO begins to figure out where he has been taken. Back at Catco, Kara, Winn and Jimmy see Maxwell Lord lie about the attack so Jimmy goes to find out what it is the Kryptonians came for. Cat continues to insist that Kara is Supergirl and gives her until the next day to prove to her that she is not. General Lane teams up with the DEO to find Hank, but instead decides to take the opportunity to torture Astra to find their base. Winn helps Jimmy break into Lord Tech to find out what he is hiding and finds himself in a locked down area. They find one door that is locked with biometrics. Before Jimmy can proceed he is knocked unconscious by Lord and his thugs. Kara, Alex and General Lane's men go to the location given to them by Astra, but it turns out to be a trap. Only one of the Generals men, Alex and Kara survive the explosion. Jimmy awakens only to be beat up and threatened by Lord to not come back. Kara decides to quit her job and then finds out what Winn and Jimmy did. They convince her to not to go after Lord angry and to approach Astra differently. Kara is able to get through to her aunt and they go to meet with Non.They make the exchange and Astra calls for her soldiers to stand down. After over hearing Alex telling John to transform at the exchange they are forced to tell Kara the truth. Kara has J'onn use his shapeshifting abilities to pose as Supergirl to convince Cat that they are two different people. Kara thanks Jonn, both finally on good terms with one another. Kara tells Jimmy and Winn that they are going to find out what Maxwell is hiding and bring him down. Maxwell goes into the biometric locked room and Red Tornadoes arm is shown along with a woman who seems to be robotic.
There was plenty of action in this episode and despite the fact we wish they would limit all the aerial battles, they were still pretty fun to watch. Here some notable scenes.
Team Supergirl- The team seemed to have their own agendas in this episode. Kara having to deal with Non kidnapping J'onn, then we have Winn and Jimmy going on their own mission to get dirt on Lord. This episode especially proved that they definitely work better together. The scene where they stop Kara from knocking Lord's head off speaks volumes. Even though they knew that there was nothing they could physically to stop her from going, Winn stood in front of her and they convinced her not to make the wrong choice.
Kara and Alex- The sisters were very protective of each other in this episode and worked side by side to save J'onn. Despite Alex wanting to keep Astra locked away, she knew that Kara still cared about her. Astra and Kara may be blood, but Alex showed us that she is Kara's family. This shot stood out the most. Isn't it beautiful.
Kara and Cat- Kara did not actually admit to being Supergirl where we last left off, so seeing her have to prove that she wasn't was funny and adorable. Then we get Kara and Supergirl in the same room, fooling Cat into thinking that they are two separate people. Seeing Cat tremble with the cup in her hand, admitting she was wrong and giving Kara her job back was hilarious. Back to square one with these two.
Kara and Astra- They may not get back to the way they used to be, but it's obvious that they still care for each other. Kara wanting to save her from being hurt by General Lane and Astra calling of her soldiers and leaving peacefully is definitely a start.
Kara and J'onn- The rooftop scene had all the feels. With music like that how could you not get teary eyed. In that scene alone, J'onn became the father figure that she needed in her life. Now she has someone who actually understands what she is going through, to kick ass with and to pose as Supergirl to keep her secret identity safe. Supergirl and Martian Manhunter team up, yes please!
Kara, Alex, J'onn- We were expecting Kara to react a little more negatively being lied to about him being a Martian and their guardian, but she actually took it well. When she said she could have kept his secret, the collective "No you can't!" was super funny. Now that the truth is out there, I'm sure we are going to see more hilarity and butt kicking with these three.
Kara and Clark- These two have all the super powers in the world and they choose to IM each other. Whatever way they can do to get Clark Kent on the show I guess. Don't worry Clark, she's in good hands now that your pal Martian Manhunter has come around.
Alex and Lord-Max really showed his true colors this episode, and despite him being the bad guy, man do we love him. He straight up kicked Alex, Kara and DEO out the door and cut ties with them. And for a second I thought something was developing between these two.
Alex and J'onn- If Alex hadn't found out J'onn's secret, she would have probably let "Hank" stay with Non and that would have been the end of it. Even though telling his secret to Kara would have made it easier, she honored his word not to say anything....Up until the end of this episode. Don't whisper something when someone with super hearing is standing a few feet away. Chances are they might hear you.
Winn and Jimmy- These two are the dynamic duo. While helping Kara with her problems, these two decided to take matters into their own hands. They were so close to finding out what Lord was really doing, but it didn't end well. At least they know that it is something very important as Lord was willing to kill to protect it. They make quite the team these two, and hopefully they carry out future missions with more finesse.
Jimmy and Lord- Jimmy definitely had a lot of guts going in alone and he paid for it. From the start these two already had some beef with each other and it's only gotten worse. Lord may have gotten the shots in this time, but Jimmy would have totally wrecked shop had he not been restrained. It is what it is though.
General Lane, Kara and Alex- The fact that they even let him stay there at the base was a little bothering. They knew what kind of person he was yet they let him do what he wanted. It felt so good to see his troops step aside after one of them said that Kara had saved his life.
General Lane and Astra- I know that she is not the best aunt in the world and definitely went the wrong way about things, but damn was that messed up. Being injected with Kryptonite serum, really?! General Lane is a savage and did he not watch the rest of "The Day the Earth Stood Still". There was another alien who tried to save the human race too. Not all of them are bad.
J'onn and Non- I love how J'onn was just toying around with Non. All of his threats were empty and Non couldn't figure out why the mind reader couldn't get anything from J'onn. I can not wait to see these two duke it out next time, with J'onn not holding back.
Alura and Astra- It turns out Alura agreed with what Astra was saying, but didn't like her killing off innocent people. So it's understandable as to why she got herself sent to Fort Rozz.
Astra and Non- Okay, these two are deeply in love, but I think their relationship is going to take a turn for the worst once Astra chooses her niece over him. This is the only way I see things going down for their story to come to a close.
New 52- The number on the biometric locked door. We seent it.
What's To Come/Theories:
Kara now knows J'onn's secret, so it would be nice for them to actually team up and kick some butt together. We know that Lord is up to no good and it looks like we may be getting our wish of the OMACs to make their appearance on the show. The next episode is entitled "Childish Things" and we are assuming that Winn's father will be stopping by to say hi to his son. Hopefully Winn stays on the right path and not follow in his father's footsteps. Winn is a crucial part of the team and they need him. Astra, Non and the rest of their Kryptonian army are still at large, but it seems like things will go a little differently now that Kara and her aunt are on somewhat good terms. We are also waiting for Silver Banshee and Cat's son Adam to pop up.
The winter premiere of Supergirl was a pretty solid one, with enough action to accompany the drama that consumes Kara's life. The story is only getting more interesting and Maxwell Lord emerges as the character of the week. Kara again proves to us that she has what it takes to get the job done without blood being spilled and her friends are there with her every step of the way. This one gets 4.8 Krypto The Superdogs out of 5. What did you guys think about last night's episode "Blood Bonds"? Leave it in the comments below, we'd love to read them!
