(Warning - the following pretty much only contains major plot SPOILERS for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, being principally a discussion of the accuracy of fan theories relating to Rey's role within the plot. If you haven't yet seen the movie, then make sure to recall Taylor Swift's sage words to Yoda: "Say I didn't say I didn't warn ya, do not...")

Now, it'll probably come as no real surprise to you that everyone here at Moviepilot has something of a soft spot for a good fan theory. They are, after all, one of the purest expressions of fandom - a way for movie-lovers to actively interact with the films they love, while also interacting with thousands of other devotees - and that is very much our sugar-based toast-topping. Add in some Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens to that mix - which is pretty much everyone's jam at this point - and you've got yourself one hell of a good time.

The one thing better than a good Star Wars fan theory, though? Nine of 'em....

That's right. Y'see:

A Dedicated Fan Has Created an Entire Spreadsheet of Rey-Themed Fan Theories

Specifically, intrepid Redditor imnotelvis has conjured up this shiny Google spreadsheet, in which the many fan theories that have thus far swirled around Rey's person have been collected and then pro/con-listed at considerable length.

Which, a) is a great idea, and there needs to be a heck of a lot more of this sort of open-source awesomeness out there, and b) acts as an intriguing reminder of just how many Rey-related fan theories have already arrived in the movie's first three weeks of release.

I mean, we're not only talking your standard...

...Rey Might Be Luke's Daughter...

...Rey Might Be Leia's Daughter...

...or even...

...Rey Might be Obi Wan's Daughter

...kind of theories, but also some of the even more (awesomely) out there ones, including that...

...Rey Might Be Anakin's Great-Niece...

...Rey Might Be Anakin, Reincarnated...

...or, my personal favorite...

...Rey Might Be the Son of Luke and Captain Phasma

Which, screw it, we're all just going to say is the real one, because the idea of Gwendoline Christie pulling off her awesome helmet as she intones "Rey, I am your mother" is too improbably perfect to be true.

For more of imnotelevis's ingenious approach to fan theorizing, though, you can always head to the spreadsheet in question yourself, and root around for a bit. It's totally worth it...

Which theory is your favorite, though?
