With the start of a new year comes the promise of new movie releases! This year, one of the films at the top of my must-see list hails from the Disney slate. After seeing the trailer, the upcoming live-action version of The Jungle Book promises to be an unparalleled adventure.
Yesterday, the studio released the first of three panels for their triptych poster and it was seriously awesome. Instead of the goofy King Louie of our childhood's, Jon Favreau's updated, gritty version brings us a gargantuan orangutan voiced by Christopher Walken.
In today's freshly released poster we get a close-up look at the proud and ruthless tiger, Shere Khan, brought to life Idris Elba.
Compared to the likes of Tony the Tiger of Frosted Flakes fame, Shere Khan always terrified me as a kid. But this new version of the jungle cat proves why he's the terrifying ruler of the jungle who fears nothing but man's guns and fire.
I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see what they have in store for us tomorrow. My hope is that we'll finally get a good look at Mowgli, played by 10-year-old Neel Sethi, and everyone's favorite dancing bear Baloo, voiced by Bill Murray.
Disney's The Jungle Book will be released in theaters starting April 15, 2016.
