Netflix Inc. is all geared up to make a strong mark in the fiscal year of 2016. According to the company, it has many movies scheduled to be released in 2016 that is expected to take the industry by storm.
From January, the online streaming giant has plans to offer a diverse range of content that will encompass new movies along with other original programming content. Mr. Ted Sarandos, the chief content officer, said Netflix has plans to almost double the number of original shows that are being broadcasted currently.
Apart from this, the company has also several other ventures in the pipeline such as the launch of 10 feature films, 12 documentaries, around 30 shows for kids and 10 standup comedy specials.
January is expected to be an extremely fun-packed month where the company has already revealed its top picks for the tenure. The first day of the New Year will showcase some major hits of the decade, such as Catwoman, We Need to Talk About Kevin, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Constantine, and Swordfish. On January 2, 2016, Netflix plans to broadcast the first season of ‘I'll Have What Phil's Having’. Furthermore, ‘30 for 30: Four Falls of Buffalo’ will also be shown to subscribers.
The third day of the New Year was not going to be much eventful; however, January 4th and 5th have some amazing features in store, such as the season 10 of ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ and ‘Training Day’.
In mid of January, a teen soap based in Canada namely “Next Class” has been scheduled. Moreover, the end of the month will feature a documentary series spanning four parts “Chelsea Does’ along with ‘Turbo Kid’ – a recently launch animated post-apocalyptic action comedy movie will be present on Netflix.
Netflix now has to deal with competition since its rivals, Hulu and Amazon Prime, also have an amazing lineup of the latest movies. The online streaming industry is quite saturated now and the competition is quite crucial at this point. All companies, which are coming up with original content, need to be extremely careful now regarding their offerings, since the subscribers have the advantage to opt for another service with better offerings.
Netflix so far is the uncrowned king of the fraternity with a massive subscriber base but it needs to continue innovating in order to refrain from being sabotaged by rivals and retain its dominant position in the market.
