I, like many others, am a huge fan of the "Star Wars" Expanded Universe. With the announcement of the upcoming and highly anticipated "Anthologies" such as ROGUE ONE, HAN SOLO and BOBA FETT heading to theaters within the next few years, perhaps a further expansion of the Star Wars Universe could be brought into some thought. Since I am a new and upcoming author, I thought I might share some possibilities for a galaxy far, far away.
1: Death Troopers.
For me personally, this was probably one of the best Star Wars novels I have ever read since the "Thrawn Trilogy" due to its unique story (as far as the Star Wars franchise is concerned) and eerie background. Taking place aboard the Imperial prison barge "Purge," a series of gruesome events begin to unfold as an abandoned Star Destroyer is discovered whose occupants have transformed into mindless, flesh-eating Stormtrooper zombies. Trig Longo, an inmate aboard Purge, along with his brother and an Imperial medical officer, must escape from the nightmare that has begun to infect the ship. Along their adventure, they meet up with two other inmates (and very famous ones at that): a smuggler and his Wookie companion.
I think "Death Troopers" should and could very well be a great expansion of the Star Wars Universe as it does mix zombie horror and old heroes together. Perhaps we may be looking at the first R-rated Star Wars film?
2: Darth Plagueis.
Up until the moment when Chancellor Palpatine first mentioned his name in "Episode III: Revenge of the Sith," we never heard of Darth Plagueis the Wise. Darth Plagueis, according to Palpatine's statement, was a Dark Lord of the Sith who was murdered by his own pupil (presumably Palpatine himself). Other than that, we didn't know much about him. That is until author James Luceno gave fans a full view history of the Sith Lord and his ultimate demise.
This could possibly spawn off a whole new series of Star Wars films that would focus mainly on the bad guys of the galaxy rather than its heroes. Who else wants to see "Star Wars: Darth Revan"?
3: The Old Republic
Let's face it, any fan of the Star Wars Expanded Universe knows of the Old Republic. Anakin Skywalker isn't born yet, the Clone Wars aren't even a twinkle in the Jedi's minds and the Sith are reigning supreme across the galaxy. Another story that centers mainly around the Sith, this also could very well spawn a new series (perhaps a new trilogy) to further expand the franchise.
Last but not least...
4: Star Wars Anthology: Darth Maul.
Face it, people, who does NOT want to see a Star Wars movie about the biggest badass Sith Lord in the galaxy? We are first introduced to the Sith Lord in Episode I: The Phantom Menace, but we hardly know nothing about him. Yes there have been several novels written that chronicle his life as a Sith Lord, but how about the days leading up to him taking on the mantle of darkness? Why not make this movie.
"At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have our revenge." This could be the statement that may be a direct reference to the Sith's fall from terror during the Old Republic series, another film trilogy that could possibly lead to Maul's story. And I'm sure Ray Park wouldn't mind swinging that badass double-end light saber around one more time.
So these are just a few of the Star Wars movies that I hope one day we all get to see in theaters. You think there should be more?
