When you think of Star Wars, what immediately springs to mind? The Force? Lightsaber battles? X-Wings? Well, how about the iconic artwork of Calvin and Hobbes?

Disney Animation Studios and Marvel Comics artist Brian Kesinger recently chatted to Buzzfeed about his new fan art series which reimagines the heroes of Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens in the style of Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes.

Spaceman Finn

Poe and Kylo

Rey and BB-8

The above piece seems particularly important to Kesinger, as the scene depicted was the inspiration for the entire series. Kesinger told Buzzfeed:

It struck me that she probably did that as a child and that’s when the Calvin and Hobbes image flashed in my head.

He added:

Bill Watterson has been one of my biggest artistic influences so it was a fun opportunity to combine two of my favorite things.
