I am going to go out of the traditional writing style and talk to you reader. I watched "The Force Awakens" twice and I have to say, it's a pretty good damn movie. The thing about this film though is it is another sequel. Like all other sequels and remakes like we've seen with "Marvel" and other big studios, they know how to make a big quick buck; remakes, prequels, and sequels. This has always outshined over original masterpieces. Let's quickly examine some examples.

2012 was one of the biggest years for remakes, sequels, and prequels showing filmgoers movies such as "The Avengers", "Men in Black 3", "Prometheus", "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey", and a bit more. There were films that were considered good to great that did not get as much viewings due to these other releases such as "Silver Linings Playbook", "Looper", "Lincoln", "The Artist" and a lot more. Now I am not saying these films did not receive quite a bit of money because eventually they did, but at the time of their release they were all outshined due to remakes, sequels and prequels.

Now reader you have to understand that I am not saying that these films didn't do well in the box office, I am saying that they are not the films people think of when they think of the movies that were released in that year, eventually making them forgettable over remakes, sequels and prequels......

Please stop hating me.

Let's talk about "The Force Awakens". This film was very entertaining and a great movie experience. The thing about this sequel though, is that it is very much fueled only by anticipation. What I mean by that is that we all have our nostalgic glasses on and don't look at any negative aspects at all. Even when a fan does start to reflect on these negative aspects they still tell themselves and their friends "Other than that the movie was great!" I went and saw "The Hateful Eight" a week after I saw "The Force Awakens" and I have to say, that was so refreshing.

Finally another original masterpiece!

Yes, Quentin Tarantino is my favorite director so I will name another few films that outshined "The Force Awakens" in just a second but my God "The Hateful Eight" was great. See what I did there. This film was beautifully filmed, beautifully acted and above all daring to the brim. Grim and bloody, this masterpiece made me want to go back and ask for a refund for my second viewing of "The Force Awakens" and throw it at "The Hateful Eight" one more time.

Oh yeah and how about "The Big Short"!

Showing the world what was truly happening in the financial crisis of the mid-2000's, this movie showed us the true story of these different groups of people taking advantage of the greedy big banks and profiting off of them. With some of today's greatest actors such as Steve Carell, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, and Ryan Gosling. These actors played their true counterparts to a tune I haven't seen in a movie in a while. OH! and a lot of fourth wall breaks, so yea it is definitely a fun film.

And I almost forgot, "THE REVENANT"!

I literally just got out of the theatres, and I have to say....This film is the bees knees. A critic claimed that this movie is not for pansies and I absolutely agree. A film about betrayal, honor and vengeance, this will make the list of the top thrillers of all time. PLUS! Leonardo DiCaprio vs. Tom Hardy....what more could you freaking want.

Great films like these are becoming overshadowed by the "Star Wars" sequel and later in the future might easily be forgotten.

The point I am trying to make is that when I saw these other films after "The Force Awakens" I definitely felt like this was true entertainment, this is true cinema, this is true originality. I give props to J.J Abrams for his film, and I know that making that film is a lot of pressure especially with Disney breathing down your neck, and George Lucas to redeem, but I am just outright sick of the lack of originality anymore.

Thank you for reading and staying happy....I hope...
