This article discusses the role of Luke Sky walker in The Force Awakens. If you don't want to know anything about him and you haven't seen the movie, turn back now.

Star Wars Episode 7 is now out and almost the highest grossing movie of all time. But now, I am more interested in what is going to happen in Episode 8.

There were many unused ideas and concepts that were abandoned for Episode VII. Some of these ideas included: Darth Talon, Castle Vader, and Poe Dameron as a Bounty Hunter. But one of the biggest unused concepts, in my opinion, was the Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader Force Ghost.

In earlier drafts of the movie, Luke Skywalker was a much bigger character. He had to be cut out because every time Mark Hamill was acting alongside his fellow stars, he stole the show, and drew the attention away from the new characters like Rey and Finn. When Luke was a bigger part of the story, there was the idea that he could talk to Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader.

From what information I have seen about this Force Ghost, is that Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader were to be merged into one Force Ghost. Luke would have been like Anakin was in Revenge of the Sith: in the middle of the dark side and the light. When Luke was more of a good guy he could talk to the Anakin part of this Force Ghost. When he was more of a bad guy he would talk to the Darth Vader side.

From other concept art, though, we almost could have seen two different Force Ghosts: one of Anakin Skywalker, and the other of Darth Vader. The same idea would go with these: when Luke is more on the light side he talks to Anakin. When he's more on the dark side he talks to Vader.

I believe this idea should be brought back for Episode VIII. An Anakin/Vader Force Ghost that Luke talks to. Since Luke was only in the ending of The Force Awakens, I'm sure he will have a much bigger part in Episode VIII.

The Anakin/Vader Force Ghost isn't the only one that could return, though. I would love if Ewan McGregor came back as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Another character that could be included, is Yoda. Yoda and Obi-Wan would both be old mentors to Luke. Yoda returning wouldn't be the greatest idea, at least in my opinion. But that is mainly because I like Obi-Wan and Anakin more. It still wouldn't be a horrible idea, and I would love to see the return of the legend.

Many people would probably like if Obi-Wan Kenobi returned, played by Ewan McGregor. Many people say that Ewan was the best part of the Prequel Trilogy, so why not bring back the best part? But, since I am a huge fan of all seven in the saga, I would like if Hayden Christensen returned. I wouldn't mind Obi-Wan coming back, but if Anakin returned, that would show that Disney actually cares about the Prequels, and aren't completely ignoring them.

If Anakin did return as the Anakin/Vader Force Ghost, the Anakin part should be played by Hayden Christensen, and the Darth Vader part voiced by James Earl Jones. No one can do better as Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader than Hayden Christensen and James Earl Jones.

That is my opinion. I'd really like if we got to see the Force Ghosts of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. It was a great abandoned idea, that really should be brought back.
