Ever since Jesse Eisenberg was cast as the iconic villain Lex Luthor, fans have not hesitated to show their displeasure with the choice. Especially with the latest trailer perceiving him to be very campy and energetic. But believe it or not, Jesse was first approached with another role that Zack Snyder describes as:
"The exact opposite of Lex Luthor."
Which you could probably derive that he was playing a good guy role as opposed to a villainous one. Though while Snyder didn't say who it was, he elaborated as to why they offered him the role:
"I feel like once [Eisenberg] found out who Lex was he embraced it. Once you kind of start digging into Lex, it's a bit of a scary thing to be that guy. I don't think he just goes 'Oh, I'll just be that guy and then when I go home I'm not him.' I think the thing with Jessie is he wasn't immune to the reality of playing a super-scary character."
Now whether or not him getting the role was actually the better choice, we'll find out soon enough. But as to who this other characters was my guess is none other than:
Awkward mild-mannered Jimmy Olsen fits Jesse's personality quite well. While he's not confirmed to be in the movie, most speculate that Scoot McNairy's character is Jimmy in a wheelchair.
