Sailor Moon Crystal debuted in 2014 with fans receiving a new episode every first and third Saturday of the month. Ending last summer fans said goodbye to the series, that followed the manga more closely than the 1990's, with the final words "See you soon!"
Fans waited with anticipation for news on a second series adapting the third story arc (The Infinity Arc) of the manga into Sailor Moon Crystal. Primarily because fan favorite characters the Outer Senshi debut in the Infinity Arc of the story.
Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune work together later being joined by Sailor Pluto (who fans met during the second season of Sailor Moon Crystal) and later again are joined by the final member Sailor Saturn.
Fans have adored the quartet ever since the conception of the character in the original manga, due to their higher levels of dedication to their roles as soldiers charged with protecting the Silver Millennium from threats outside of our universe. After a few months of patients the creators of the series released this image creating a fan frenzy across the globe.
The image simply says the third season is coming in 2016, and aside the text stands Salior Uranus's Space Sword and Sailor Neptune's Deep Aqua Mirror, two of the three talismans which will be vital to the next arc of the story. After that it was dead silent on news, nothing, no dates, no info and no leaked images for months. However that has all changed now! On 8th January 2016 it was revealed the series has now officially been slated to begin in spring of 2016! Along with this information they have also revealed the staff involved in the next series and confirmed all the cast are returning to reprise their roles. Chiaki Kon will take over from Munehisa Sakai directing the anime, Akira Takahashi will take over from Yukie Sako as the character designer, while remaining are yuki Kobayashi in charge of scripts, takashi Kurahashi as art director and Yasuharu Takanashi composing the music.
As if that was not exciting enough it gets even better! Just 24 hours later the magazine Animedia released this image by Akira Takahashiv the character designer for the new series revealing the new character designs!
While the image is in black and white is shows all 10 of the Senshi together! With Sailor Moon Crystal remaining true to the manga, where the 1990's anime differed greatly in plot, fans are eager to see the true story of the Outer Senshi in anime format and I am sure we will not be disappointed. As a final treat here is a close up of the image in the article.
