[Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409) is right around the corner in less than 4 months and it's supposed to have a huge twist according to the Russo Brothers. The majority of the Marvel fanbase thinks that it has to be Captain America as he was the one who "died" in the comic books and this would surprise the general audience. The thing is, wouldn't fans be expecting Cap to kick the bucket? This movie is already totally different from the comic book series in many different ways, shapes, and forms. Therefore, if we are not expecting moments like the reveal of Spider-Man's identity and many other nostalgic moments from the comic book series, why are we expecting that Steve Rogers is going to die? Perhaps it's the complete opposite of what we are expecting!
What if Tony Stark Dies in Captain America: Civil War?
Has this even come to your mind? The death of Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man would totally blow everyone away! It is safe to say he is the main character of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and as Marvel is trying to move on to different things and expand the universe in Phase 3 while introducing new key characters such as Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man, it's time to let go of Iron Man. We will still have War Machine, which will only enhance his character. We are aware War Machine is not dying as we have seen damaged pictures and toys and that would be too much of a spoiler if he did die in that scene from the trailer. Therefore, all these superheroes have to develop. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, his arc was trying to make his own apart from Iron Man. That arc will never be completed and it never will be until Iron Man is out of the way. There is no other development you can possibly give Rhodey as he's just stuck as Tony's assistant. We could even see a passing of the torch. Instead of Marvel doing what we expect and making Bucky the new Captain America, they could instead make War Machine the new Iron Man.
Let's not forget how hard it has been for Marvel to keep Robert Downey Jr. For Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America Civil War, he is getting paid a total of 100 million dollars! Getting rid of Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) properly and doing it in a great way story-wise is their best option. For Captain America: Civil War, RDJ made Marvel ship down all his furniture so he could 'feel at home'. Everyone has to love our favorite ex-druggy but he is just a bit too hard to handle. Is it really worth keeping him through Avengers: Infinity Wars so him and Star Lord can team up? (So worth it)
There are many reasons why Tony Stark and even Steve Rogers will make it until Infinity Wars. One of the main reasons is that they are both set to appear in the new Spider-Man solo film. Evans and RDJ hinted at this highly on Jimmy Kimmel Live when they revealed the trailer that they were going back to the filming location once again to film the new Spider-Man film. Another reason is that Avengers: Infinity Wars is supposed to have all the characters we have or will love from the past 20 films in this huge two part finale for one last time to battle the mighty Thanos. We will have all the Avengers and (most likely) the Guardians of the Galaxy and possibly some other players.
