Now, there are of course a whole lot of reasons to be excited about 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, even at this much of a distance. After all, it's an Avengers movie. With Thanos in it. Directed by the guys (Joe and Anthony Russo) who brought us one of the best superhero movies of all time, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Perhaps the biggest cause for over-excitement for long-term fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and especially the comic books), though, is the fact that Infinity War looks set to finally bring together the various strands of the MCU into one gigantic pile of awesomeness.

As it turns out, though...

There Could Be Even More Main Characters in 'Infinity War' Than We Thought

Specifically, as Joe Russo pointed out at this past weekend's Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con (after his brother Anthony inadvertently referred to Hayley Atwell's character as 'Sharon' Carter):

"We have so many characters we're dealing with. We're breaking ground on Avengers: Infinity War. We have a board with 67 characters on it. You have to forgive him."

Yup, that's right.

67.

There are going to be 67 main (or, at least, named) characters in Avengers: Infinity War.

Which is... a lot.

Just Who Are We Going to See, Though?

Well, with a number that high - albeit one that presumably covers both Parts 1 and 2 of the double release - it seems likely that we really will be seeing the Guardians of the Galaxy meet up with our more Earthbound Marvel heroes, as well as suggesting that Netflix's key heroes (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist) could well finally make their big screen debuts.

It also, however, suggests that pretty much every supporting character to have appeared in the MCU thus far will be making some kind of appearance (contractual wranglings permitting), as well as opening up the possibility that a whole lot of new heroes (and villains) could be introduced.

The Inhumans, anyone?

What do you think?
