What was originally one of the most anticipated titles of 2015 has moved into this new year and the wait has been a tough one. Shin Megami Tensei's Persona 5 will release for PS4 and PS3 in 2016, along with some remarkable RPGs from Japan, not least of which consists of Final Fantasy 15 and The Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
But when we say that Persona 5 will release in 2016, we can't exactly say it with great certainty. The undertaking of this presumably enormous JRPG has proven to a be a challenge for director, Katsura Hashino, and his team at Atlus. We've no idea how impressive this game will be, but Hashino doesn't seem to have great confidence for the game's supposed 2016 release date. Or does he?
Will Persona 5 Release In 2016? "I Think..."
4Gamer recently sat down with the director of Persona 5 and Kazuyuki Yamai, a producer from Atlus. The two talked about what they enjoyed in 2015 and what their hopes are for the year ahead. But what was most interesting to us was how Hashino spoke about the release of his upcoming RPG:
I think we’ll be able to release the RPG we are currently developing without problems. And more than anything, we hope to make an interesting experience for all of the players.
In an additional interview with Famistu a few days later, Hashino stated:
We’ll safely release Persona 5 in 2016… I think.
I'm not liking all of these "I think"s - can get a man worried! However, once again, Hashino went on to make the following statement a few days later:
In 2016, we plan to safely release one of our biggest games to date, Persona 5. When the game was delayed, we stated that we were going to do various finetuning to the game to ensure it was a quality product. However, I feel we’re almost at that point now. Please look forward to the next Persona 5 update soon!
We cannot wait for that update! Persona 5 is one of the most anticipated titles for the year, and we sincerely hope it lives up to the series' legacy. I can barely contain my hype.
