Last Week We Had A Captain America Hoodie

Today an image was leaked that could be our first clue about what Spider-Man's costume will look like when he makes his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War. This comes after a Captain America hoodie based on the suit design Cap will have in Civil War gave us a clear idea of how Steve Rogers will look in the upcoming movie. Along with the reveal (which looks really cool by the way!), there was a listing for a 'Spider-Man Premium Hoodie' which had this cryptic and intriguing message in the official description: -

"Ok, so here’s the deal: we have photos of the Spider-Man hoodie coming very soon. We really, REALLY want to show it to you now, but we’re not allowed to just yet. Make sure you check back on the 15th January for your very first look!"

Before that, remind yourself of the Civil War trailer:

Now, It's Spider-Man's Turn!

Of course the excitement built up and I was eagerly anticipating Friday, until I saw something on twitter earlier today...

I want to preface this by saying I have no idea of the legitimacy of this picture, it could be an official image but it could equally be a fabrication (that's why the title says COULD). But I will say that it does bear some similarities to Spidey's design from the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon series produced by Marvel. We should also bear in mind Kevin Feige's comments about the costume: -

"I was more involved in the Raimi ones, and think they did a very good job. But that being said, we’ve already designed the costume, which is different than any of the ones that have come before. And yet ours is classic Spidey, as I think you’ll see."

Different from any of the ones that have come before, but still quintessentially Spider-Man...

So, How Could it Really Look?

As you can see from the above picture, the hoodie looks very similar to this design. Unlike previous Spider-Man costumes, there is no red web line connecting the shoulders to the gloves and the spider is very similar to this design. Again, this is purely speculation but as Marvel's animated universe designs are close to the MCU's designs for some characters there is a possibility that Spider-Man's design could follow suit.

The other thing that backs up this hoodie is the already rumored suit that will be used in the film. Latino Review posted a piece of concept art of the alleged suit back in July. If this was in any way accurate, it could also prove the hoodie to be legitimate. It would be an excellent marketing strategy to have Spidey wear a hoodie that the fans could actually buy.

Now I know this was blatant click-bait, so I apologize about that. It could be that this hoodie is simply a product related to Ultimate Spider-Man. There is a chance, however small, that Marvel have revealed the smallest glimpse of Tom Holland's Spidey Suit. Either way, I think it looks good and I will most likely be buying one if I can. I did talk in an earlier post about 5 Suits Spider-Man Could Wear in the MCU if you fancy taking a look. What do you think?
