Happy 2016 everyone! It's still pretty early in the new year, but I'm already certain that this year is going to be the best year yet! Why is that? All the video games of course!

2016 is definitely going to be a great year for every gamer, as there are a ton of incredible games coming out. Best of all, there's an upcoming game for every kind of gamer! It doesn't matter if you like the adventurous nature of action-adventure games, the fast-paced style of shooters, or find yourself immersed in the beautiful visuals of indie games!

But with so many games, how can you be expected to choose from all of them? Not to worry, just like I hooked you up with some awesome holiday movies to watch last season, I'm going to share with you my 16 picks for upcoming games that'll satisfy you in any mood! So grab your controllers, your gamepads, and your cheat codes, it's time to game!

For When You're Feeling Adventurous!

When it comes to adventure games, none are as famous as The Legend of Zelda series! Nintendo's original NES title gained critical acclaim when it released in 1986, and so far every game afterwards has been a success! Which is why it comes as no surprise that a new Zelda game is one of the most anticipated upcoming Wii U games of 2016!

Fans have been waiting for a Wii U Zelda title since the system was announced. The gamepad is the perfect tool for exploring the vast world of Hyrule! While not a lot of info has come out about the game, what little information we have is enough to make any Zelda fan smile!

A fully open-world with multiple paths to choose from, HD graphics, and a map that literally tests the limitations of the Wii U hardware, this new Zelda game is going to be the best one yet! It's tough to say now, but if this game is as good as it sounds, it might take the spot of Majora's Mask as my favorite Zelda game of all time! A specific release date hasn't been announced, but Nintendo has assured us that we can get our hands on this new Zelda title this year!

If you're in not in the mood for a fantasy-driven adventure, and want to get your hands on a true adventure game, look no further than Uncharted 4: A Thief's End! The fourth and final installment in Naughty Dog's critically acclaimed series, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End sees the epic story of Nathan Drake come to a close.

Set three years after Uncharted 3, A Thief's End sees Nathan Drake- famed fortune hunter- come out of retirement to help his long-lost older brother. Together, the two go on a quest to find a lost pirate colony and the treasures that lie in it.

Being the last title in the series, Uncharted 4 is pulling out all of the stops! It's got beautiful graphics, incredible voice acting, and the fun and familiar gameplay of previous Uncharted titles- it's safe to say that Uncharted 4 will be taking home a ton of awards when it releases on April 26, 2016!

For When You Want A Beautiful And Innovative Indie!

A game doesn't have to be some big-budget project with a huge team behind it to be successful. Some games have very low-budgets, and have a small, independent team working on it—and yet they still manage to be beautiful works of art. For example, Firewatch, the upcoming indie title by developer Campo Santo.

Firewatch is set in Wyoming (that state you forgot existed) in 1989, in the aftermath of the 1988 Yellowstone fires. You play a volunteer fire lookout named Henry, who's assigned a lookout tower in the Shoshone National Forest. After a series of mysterious events, including a pair of missing persons and someone ransacking his tower, Henry begins to investigate. The only person Henry can contact is his supervisor, Delilah, who he talks to via walkie-talkie.

Players can either choose from a number of dialogue options when talking to Delilah, or choose to ignore her. Be cautious though, as your choices will directly affect your relationship with her. The game looks beautiful, has great dialogue, and has my favorite video game feature, player choice and effect. I'm definitely getting Firewatch when it reaches stores on February 9, 2016!

If a national forest isn't a cool enough setting for you (which genuinely surprises me), how about the entire galaxy? No, still not good enough? Well luckily for you, developer Hello Games has made a game that aims to satisfy all of our demanding natures!

No Man's Sky isn't the first game by Hello Games, but it's definitely their largest. In No Man's Sky, you're a space explorer, tasked with discovering new planets across the entire universe. Once you find a planet, you can record its information - such as local plant and wildlife- in exchange for units, the game's currency. If you're the first player to find the planet, you can actually name the animals that you encounter on it! Not only is there planetary exploration, there's also epic battles in space- making it easy to live out your Star Wars galactic battle fantasies! Even though this isn't a Star Wars game (it's in space, it counts!).

Did I also mention that the planets in the game are completely procedurally generated, and that there are over 18 QUINTILLION worlds in the game?! And that it's literally impossible to explore every single one of these worlds in your lifetime? Even when you consider the fact that most of those planets will only be a tiny bit different (like plants growing in different places, the same animals but colored differently), it's safe to say No Man's Sky will be a fun game! I can't wait to get it when it comes out in June of 2016!

For When You're In The Mood For Some Full-Fledged Action!

Before all this talk of Saitama and his one-punch habits, the anime taking over the world was Attack on Titan! While fans patiently await the second season of this glorious, action-packed show, they can get their hands on the equally action-packed game this year!

Attack on Titan: The Game follows the same story as the series, allowing players to play as their favorite characters from AoT. You can play as a variety of human characters, like Eren Yaeger and Mikasa Ackerman, as well as the Titans themselves!

The game is being developed by Omega Force, the developers of the Dynasty Warriors series. But the game won't have the same style of gameplay as the Dynasty Warriors titles, and will instead be more of a tactical action game. No official release date has been announced yet, but Omega Force has assured us that we can start taking down Titans in 2016!

Knights, Vikings, Samurai- the most brutal warriors in history! What would happen if we pit the three of them in a battle to the death? If we put them in a no-holds-barred, epic war with swords, armor, and explosive catapults at their disposal?! Awesomeness. The answer is simply awesomeness.

For Honor is the next epic game by developer Ubisoft, who you may know from the Assassin's Creed series. While Assassin's Creed is known for its use of stealthy tactics, For Honor is all about letting your enemy know you're coming for him! Epic battles, explosions everywhere- For Honor is the ultimate historic action game!

The game is an online multiplayer hand-to-hand combat game. Players choose between the three factions and go to battle against the other teams. The three factions have different abilities and weapons- for example, Vikings having axes and Samurai having kitana. The game also has a creative 'Art of Battle' system, where two players enter a dueling mode and battle it out until one of them is defeated. Like Attack on Titan, For Honor doesn't have a specific release date, but players can expect to have the most epic battle in history sometime this year!

For You When You Feel Like A Platformer!

Oh Ratchet and Clank, how I've missed you! Even though Ratchet and Clank never really left, it felt like after years of releasing title after title, the series kind of lost its focus- so it's great to see R&C go back to basics with this new game based on a movie... that's based on a game.

Ratchet and Clank is a tie-in of the upcoming Ratchet and Clank movie, both of which are a re-telling of the original Ratchet and Clank game. Told in the perspective of Ratchet and Clank's friend Captain Qwark, the game will tell the story of how the duo met and how they joined forces to battle evil across the galaxy!

The game will be similar to the original game, but with features and weapons that appeared in subsequent sequels. The original Ratchet and Clank game was my favorite thing to play when I was younger, so I'll definitely be playing this new one when it comes out April 12, 2016!

If you want a platformer that's more visually appealing than Ratchet and Clank, look no further than Unravel! Developed by Coldwood Interactive (and published by EA), Unravel centers on a little creature named Yarny. As you might have guessed, he's made entirely of yarn.

Players control Yarny as he explores the world around him. As you move, the yarn that makes up Yarny begins to unravel, creating puzzles and challenges that the player must solve to progress.

The game not only looks beautiful, but is also full of touching symbolism. The Director of the game, Martin Sahlin, has stated that Yarny represents love, and that the character unraveling represents getting farther away from what you love. Emotional symbolism, beautiful graphics, and physics based gameplay- you might want to grab a box of tissues alongside your controller when Unravel comes out on February 9, 2016!

Alright, 8 down, 8 to go! To keep this article from getting too lengthy (and because I love the dramatic tension that comes with making people wait), I've decided to split the list into two parts, so expect the second part very soon!

Until then,

Thanks For Reading!
