When The Flash returns with new episodes next week, it will see a Battlestar Galactica alum joining the cast, but which one?

Battlestar Galactica.

That would be Chief Galen Tyrol himself, Aaron Douglas.

Douglas will debut in 'Potential Energy', the mid-season premiere, as The Turtle.

The Turtle first appeared in 1945 in All-Flash #21, created by Gardner Fox and Martin Naydel, The Turtle was involved in a lab accident and gained himself the ability to drain speed from those around him.

In the comics, during the Golden Age, The Turtle is a Jay Garrick villain and his successor, Turtle Man, would go on to harass Barry Allen on Earth-1 but they will also collaborate together on crimes.

On the show, Team Flash hunts down this meta-human who can slow time itself and Andrew Kreisberg, executive producer, told EW magazine how The Turtle enters into the DCTV Universe.

“In a surprisingly funny twist, Cisco has actually been hunting The Turtle the entire series. To Barry’s surprise, everybody knows about Cisco’s hunt for the great white whale, which is The Turtle; he’s the only one who didn’t know about it. We love the idea that there was a villain out there that they knew about, but they just haven’t bothered to tell the audience about yet. All Barry wants to do is get faster, because if he can get faster, he can take on Zoom. He’s going up against a villain who is literally slowing him down. This is one of our best episodes coming back that we’ve ever done. It feels big and emotional.”

Aside from his role on Battlestar, Douglas has appeared on Smallville, Hellcats, Hemlock Grove, The Killing, The Chronicles of Riddick, I Robot, Catwoman and many, many more!

At the moment, Aaron Douglas is only set to appear in one episode.

The Flash returns to the CW this Tuesday, January 19. Check out the promo:
