The cast roster for the upcoming Arrow and The Flash spin-off, Legends of Tomorrow is already pretty incredible. A huge line-up of DC heroes are coming to the show, including: A.T.O.M, Firestorm, White Canary, Hawkgirl, Hawkman, Captain Cold, Heatwave, Vandal Savage, as well as cameos by characters like Green Arrow, The Flash, Black Canary, and more!

Now you must be thinking that with such an incredible cast, how could they possibly need any more? Well I'm not sure, but the fact is that there IS even more, specifically an epic DC character is about to jump into this time travelling madness, and that character is:

Jonah Hex!

Oh no. Not that one. No no no, no no no, no.

Just no. The 2010 film starring Josh Brolin and Megan Fox was very bad. So bad that I seriously had erased it from my mind until I looked up "Jonah Hex" on google images. While it was bad, the character himself is brilliant, and a mainstay of DC comics for many years. Legends of Tomorrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim told Entertainment Weekly that:

“Ever since we decided that Legends would involve time travel, we were eager to do a story set in the Old West,”

“But if you’re going to do a story set in the DC Universe version of the Old West, you simply must include Jonah Hex in it. We’re thrilled about bringing another well known, beloved DC character to television.”

It looks like we are set to see Hex appear in the eleventh episode of the season, and with no casting news yet all that is left to do is remind ourselves of just where Jonah came from!

The character first appeared in All-Star Western in 1971. He was raised by an abusive father, who sold him into slavery at age 13. After a whole debaucle where he rose to a position of power within the tribe and was betrayed, getting left for dead twice in quick succession, he went off to fight in the Civil War (The American one, not Captain America). He fought on the side of the Confederates, and eventually surrendered due to the moral issues he felt over the treatment of slaves. After the war ended, he became a bounty hunter, and an anti-hero. Think about the Punisher, but in the wild west. While many of his adventures take place in this time, he has also been transported across time by various incredulous systems. However it will not be him travelling in time when he appears on Legends of Tomorrow, as the team are the ones going to him!
