"You can't throw a killer party without some killing..."
- Richard Ramirez, American Horror Story: Hotel
Real life horror buffs will know the truth about the serial killers in the American Horror Story: Hotel finale! As AHS Season 5 drew to a surprisingly heart-warming close, we revisited Devil's Night at the Hotel Cortez with some old friends...
In fictional serial killer James Patrick March's party, five real life serial killers are in attendance. Here's who they were and how they featured in the American Horror Story: Hotel finale.
1. John Wayne Gacy
AHS Actor: John Carroll Lynch
American Horror Story: Hotel's Gacy is quite a joker, telling psychic Billie Dean Howard about his approach with men and teasing fellow serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer:
"Do you think any of those young men would have come over to my house if I didn't have the guts to approach 'em?
Those guys in Milwaukee must have been pretty desperate to go out with Jeffrey - the guy can't get two words out without going flush."
This darkly comic comment is backed up by fact: Gacy raped and killed young guys while being a jovial professional in public, often 'hiring' his victims for bogus jobs on his property.
2. Jeffrey Dahmer
AHS Actor: Seth Gabel
AHS Dahmer, as in real life, is a shy misfit. He killed so that his young male victims would never leave him, attempting to fill the dark void within with 'company.' In the scene pictured below, quiet loner Jeffrey is teased by Gacy:
Gacy: "Oh, Jeffrey, put your drink down and come and dance with me!"
Dahmer: "I don't dance."
3. The Zodiac Killer
American Horror Story keeps up a solid running joke on the Zodiac Killer: he's always pictured wearing a black bag with the symbol on it that the real life Zodiac used to sign letters taunting the police.
4. Richard Ramirez
Victims: 16 +
AHS Actor: Anthony Ruivivar
Richard Ramirez a.k.a. The Night Stalker broke into women's homes to rape and murder them. He later got married to one of his lady groupies while in prison, hence him flirtatiously introducing himself to psychic Billie Dean Howard on the show:
"Richard Ramirez. We're married but we live apart."
5. Aileen Wuornos
AHS Actor: Lily Rabe
Aileen Wuornos was a prostitute who killed seven of her clients between 1989 and 1990. The victim of a troubled past, Wuornos's case was highly publicized up until her death by capital punishment October 9, 2002.
Wuornos was a lesbian with very distinctive mannerisms, which Lily Rabe recreates wonderfully, flirting with psychic Billie Dean Morgan. Personally, I would not be able to resist a swaggering, beer-swilling Lily Rabe...
"Let's get this party started! Jesus H. Christ I need a beer.
I'm Aileen. Man, you got the prettiest head of hair. What I wouldn't do for hair like that, it's like Farrah Fawcett, reminds me of my ex-girlfriend"
During American Horror Story's masterful gathering of real life serial killers, was anyone else reminded of this chilling quote from The Tempest?
“Hell is empty and all the devils are here.”
