While Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Community) dropped a lot of hints recently about both [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409) and [The Avengers: Infinity War](tag:738027), the most surprising thing of all was when they stated that there would be 67 main characters in the two-part extravaganza that is Infinity War. This led to many people across the Internet trying to name all 67 of the characters, which is pretty difficult since there aren't enough characters who we have already seen and are viable options. However, it now seems as if the brothers may have been exaggerating the number ever so slightly.
At a special screening of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the Russo brothers said that:
“We were being figurative when we said [67 characters] and people took it as literal but there’s a lot of characters.”
“Infinity War is meant to be the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe up to that point.”
“It’s very ambitious in its scope, it wants to take everything that you’ve seen before and coalesce into some kinda of climactic ending. It’s complicated , ambitious storytelling…We’re not talking about lead characters, just people that make an appearance.”
So it looks like there won't be a specific number of characters for us to ponder about, but they do say that many people will be appearing, if not taking a lead role. Surely this will include some of the TV stars? Either the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or The Defenders have got to be there in some form. In addition, we can expect to see the likes of the Guardians of the Galaxy brought into the fold, possibly in a more major role than other characters considering their somewhat unique links to Thanos.
But what do you think? Who will be in Avengers: Infinity War and who won't?
