Its been almost a year since the general release of Nintendo's New 3DS in Europe and North America. Unfortunately, the new handheld console hasn't had very many exclusive titles - in fact there's only been two, a port of Xenoblade Chronicles and a port of The Binding Of Isaac. However, that doesn't mean that this 'new' device isn't worth your time.

The New Nintendo 3DS

Aside from its slick design, advanced camera, and new C-stick, the New 3DS has some worth for those that have a wide catalogue of regular 3DS games at their disposal. This new device advances the load times of classic games, it supports Amiibos without a dongle, but ultimately it makes 3D a feature that is actually a pleasure to use, as opposed to a headache-inducing nuisance.

I've gone back to so many games to see what they look like in 3D, as I never once played a game with the feature activated on older devices - screw leaving your head in one narrow sweet spot. But aside from this, there are plenty of games on the way that deserve your attention, all of which will best be played on Nintendo's New 3DS.

Pokemon - Red & Blue On New Nintendo 3DS

The stuff of dreams.
The stuff of dreams.

I struggle to choose between this New 3DS or the stunning version which was created for the release of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for the 3DS last year. Decisions, decisions. However, this New 3DS comes with both Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Red, along with 2 cover plates which let you change the external design of your device. Pretty nifty.

Releasing on February 27, this version of the Nintendo 3DS looks like one of the releases that could persuade numerous fans to purchase the new handheld console. And we couldn't blame them for it either. But that's not all that's on the way for 3DS owners.

Monster Hunter Stories

Adorable and terrifying at the same time.
Adorable and terrifying at the same time.

My god this game looks damn cute. Capcom have yet to reveal much as far as gameplay goes, but Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto explained that it’ll be a game where players will take on the role of “Riders” instead of Hunters this time around, and it will be an RPG that tells the tale between these Riders and monsters.

The game is due to receive a release date later in the year in Japan, but there's already been talk of it arriving in the West. After all, this series is wildly popular throughout the world, they can afford to port it over here! Check out Monster Hunter Stories' latest trailer below!

Still not convinced? Then here's a list of additional games that are due to arrive on the 3DS, all of which will shine on the New version:

  • Metroid Prime Federation Force
  • Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
  • Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games
  • Dragon Quest XI
  • Lego Marvel's Avengers
  • Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final
  • Mighty No. 9

Also, I feel that you can't understand how beautiful The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is until you play it on the New 3DS with functioning 3D capabilities! Truly one of the best releases of 2015.
