It's what we've always dreamed of... a Friends reunion! After an eleven year wait, NBC confirmed that there will be a new 2 hour special of the hit show honoring legendary sitcom director James Burrows airing on Sunday, February 21.
The entire cast—Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer—will all take part in this dream come true with one sad exception, Matthew Perry.
Unfortunately Chandler Bing will not be joining Joey, Ross, Rachel, Monica and Phoebe for the long overdue reunion due to other commitments.
Perry's representative told US Weekly:
“Regarding Matthew Perry and the James Burrows tribute, Matthew will not be attending, as he is in London in rehearsals for his play”
NBC's Robert Greenblatt admitted to reporters at the 2016 TCA Winter Press Tour that although he and the producers were hoping to see all six of the them in the same room at the same time that it was doubtful they could logistically pull that off.
Hopefully we can all be comforted by the fact that although there will be a void in the new special without the signature sarcasm of our favorite Bing, his reps did tell US Weekly:
"Matthew may tape something for the tribute."
Matt LeBlanc, who played played Chandler's best friend Joey, was the first of the cast to publicly voice his excitement with a tweet on Wednesday, that read "Should be a good time!"
And of course fans have been freaking out:
So far we are yet to hear from the rest of the cast, but we are guessing they are just as excited as we are.
