To avoid fainting, keep repeating 'It's only a movie...It's only a movie...'

It is with a heavy heart that Disney fans read this news: Brian Bedford, the voice of Disney's foxiest ever fox, Robin Hood, has passed away. The great actor was 80 years old and is survived by his husband, Tim MacDonald.

If you saw this as a little kid, it's very likely this dashing outlaw was the man of your dreams... Oodelally indeed!

Brian Bedford began his acting career at the age of 15, crushing the Shakespearean stage, amongst other achievements. After the sad passing of Alan Rickman and Brian Bedford, how many other theatrical greats will be robbed from us this year?

There was something devilishly charming about Disney's 1973 Robin Hood that prompted millions of childhood crushes. To quote my esteemed colleague Karly Rayner:

The suave, gallant fox (both literally and metaphorically) in Disney's Robin Hood had me absolutely, childishly besotted, but it was a character from a lesser known British TV show that really set my prepubescent pulse racing.

Well, it is said in the movie, too...

"Oh, he's so handsome. Just like his reward posters!"

Thank you, Brian Bedford, for bringing such a lovable, relatable character to life amongst your other incredible achievements. RIP.
