Our worst fears have been debunked by 'Fury Road' director George Miller, and contrary to recent news, MORE MAD MAX IS COMING!
Someone hold me, I am in a fragile state! Mad Max fans literally had their hearts ripped from their chests when The Daily News quoted director George Miller saying he was done making Mad Max films for good, and there would be no more to follow [Mad Max: Fury Road](tag:41445). George's words sent shock-waves though Hollywood, and angered fans around the world who were still high on the epic ride that Fury Road was. Coming off 10 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director, it was pretty hard to believe that he was really walking away. Well, after a week of desperately trying to come to grips with the fate of the Mad Max films, fans finally have the relief they wished for!
The Wrap caught up with George Miller to discuss his shocking revelation only to find out IT'S NOT EVEN TRUE! A sneaky reporter misinterpreted his words during a hectic red carpet interview and twisted them to make audiences believe he was done with the films when he never even said that. George clears everything up telling The Wrap:
“That was a completely garbled interview. I was in New York and it was so noisy and the journalist was asking me questions on a red carpet at the National Board of Review. She completely got the wrong fragments of information that were just not true. I said no, [another Mad Max movie] will not be next, and she took that to mean I never wanted to make another Mad Max."
WAIT! It gets even better. Not only is he not done with the films, but he already has more planned, and by more, he means two complete Mad Max stories he still plans on making! George continued:
"It won’t necessarily be next, but I have two more stories.”
Ok, so what if it's not his very next project! I will wait forever if it means we get another brilliant Mad Max saga at the level Fury Road was on! I'm so happy George shut that journalist down and corrected her misinterpretation of his comments. I was about to riot!
As far as what the next two stories could be, no details have been released, though some have speculated a Furiosa spin-off will likely be one of them! If that's true, Charlize Theron HAS to come back for it or it just won't work. She was brilliant!
And all hail Tom Hardy, he is literally Mad Max in real life, and no one could take his place!
Regardless, as long as George is involved, I have no doubt the films will be even more epic than the last, I just hope we don't have to wait too long. Mad Max: Fury Road received 10 well deserved Oscar nominations this week, so it's clear that not only the fans, but Hollywood itself is on board for some new Mad Max material too! Guess we'll just have to be patient.
