If you, like us, thought this announcement meant Ellen DeGeneres was finally going to bring a mini-Ellen into this world, think again.
On Thursday, DeGeneres shared on her self-named talk show that she and wife Portia de Rossi had taken a big life step: they'd adopted Kid. "Kid," of course, being the name of their brand new 9-week-old puppy.
The famed comedienne and this year's Favorite Humanitarian at People's Choice explained what life was like with little Kid:
"I have not talked about this yet, but we have a new puppy. Portia and I got a puppy and his name is Kid so now we have a kid. Yep. I mean, he is absolutely adorable."
"He's nine weeks old and cute as can be, but I'll tell you what's not cute, is to wake up at 11, and 1, and 3 and 5. And then 5 is when he's up, up," she joked.
DeGeneres went on to say that having a baby animal made her empathize more with those who had baby humans:
"It really makes me appreciate what it's like to be a mother. Because like I'm trying to hold a puppy while I'm trying to make coffee. And I can't do anything. He doesn't let me do anything. And I named him Kid because, you know, people...There have been rumors forever. 'When are you and Portia gonna have a kid?' So, now I can say we have a Kid. So it can just stop."
As much as we'd love to see a real kid in DeGeneres' life, we respect her decision to abstain. As she's mentioned in the past, "There is far too much glass in [her] house."
