Jon Bernthal a.k.a Frank Castle on Marvel's Daredevil had this to say about his character 'going to a whole new place,'and he further elaborates with EW......

“… He’s a guy who brought the warhome with him [in] the worst possible way. There are a lot of iterations of this character and in all of them it’s a man who’s gone through this unbelievable trauma and what’s interesting about our take on him is how this trauma reshapes hisown philosophy. I can’t give too much away, but what’s interesting is the way [showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez] have made his story a slow burn. It’s interesting to find this guy at the point we find him. You want an evolution and a process. He starts in one place and will end up in another.”

The second season of the highly-acclaimed Marvel's Daredevil have yet to air - but there is already talks of a Punisher series at Netflix. Jon Bernthal's Punisher, have already been met with high praises by the head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb, as 'Extraordinarily Memorable'!

TVline reported that all-sides involved are discussing a solo series - if this would be the case then this would be the sixth series for Netflix's Marvel Universe. Who would't want to see Frank Castle's take-no-prisoners style of vigilantism. Depending on the upcoming season of Daredevil - we could be receiving a series that will make identifying the good guy - harder than a male teenager at a Victoria Secrets runway show! Jon Bernthal talks about the dark place that he deliberately puts himself in an interview with EW about the Punisher.....

“… with Frank, what was important was the emptiness inside him. He’s dealing with this unbelievable loss. There’s unbelievable anger and hatred and shame. There’s a sense of responsibility and as a father and husband, if I were to lose my family on mywatch … I had to put myself in as dark of place as possible the last six months.”

What make these rumors seem more, and more true - not only TVline reporting these rumors, but the good people at THR, confirmed the news about a Punisher-based show on Netflix to be in early development. Many people might have their doubts with so many versions of the Punisher already portrayed - but none of these were done by the incomparable, Jon Bernthal.

I don't like to rain on anyone's parade, but the talks are in early development - this means if Frank Castle doesn't blow us away in Daredevil, then the show could be put on halt. Yet, this is still very positive news, because when Mr.Castle steals-the-show in season 2, we could potentially see him joining The Defenders next year! Furthermore, we could see him join with Blade (wishful thinking), we could see him go deep undercover to infiltrate any given type-of-operations! Jon talks to EW on how complicated Frank is.....

“One of the things I’m most excited for is I’m hoping the audience will go back and forth. There are things you can identify with and get behind, and there are things when the character pushes it and you can’t get behind him anymore. And that’s what I want. I think that’s the nature of the character. This is a guy who pushes the envelope. He’s brutal, but he’s coming from a place of unbelievable hurt. And the best thing about the character is he just doesn’t care. It’s a highly personal mission he’s on and if he offends you, it’s completely unimportant to him.”

Besides Hawkeye, Marvel desperately need more humans to keep the Marvel Cinematic Universe somewhat grounded. Frank Castle is so awesome, due to his iron-clad willpower, and uncompromising morals. I truly cannot think of a reason why Frank Castle a.k.a The Punisher should not get his own series, especially on the network that gave us Daredevil and Jessica Jones (as long as he's awesome in Daredevil Season 2) - Jon gives us more depth on Daredevil v The Punisher......

“… I can tell you that this guy, horrible tragic things happen, and we will see how he goes through that. The effect the other characters have on him will push him certain directions. I think once you see these characters collide, it’s tremendously interesting and emotionally gripping aswell. It’s going to be a special season. If you thought last season of Daredevil was dark, we’re going to a whole new place.”

I am sure we will all be counting the days before March,18th for Netflix's Daredevil to premiere! Also, I will follow-up with any news for confirmation of a new Punisher show!
