Star Wars : The Force Awakens is a film praised for its amazing plot and also for some of the intriguing scenes in it. It has been revealed that there were a few scenes that didn't make it to the final cut, one of those scenes reveals more about the space smuggler Maz Kanata who may be more powerful than we possibly imagined.

J.J. Abrams recently spoke to EW about the ten to twenty minutes of deleted scenes from the film. In one of them, Maz Kanata personally delivers Luke and Anakin’s lightsaber to General Leia. Why (and how) would she have a lightsaber? Another deleted scene offers an intriguing development. Collider asked SFX Supervisor Chris Corbould if there were any deleted scenes in particular he was sad to see get cut, and he revealed a different, even cooler, Maz Kanata sequence:

There was a particular part of a scene that never made it, where they go underneath the castle and they’re going into the underground passageways, and stormtroopers are coming down the stairs and Maz uses her powers to collapse the ceiling.

From my point of view, [that] worked absolutely brilliantly because you had all the main actors running up and then Maz does her bit and then the whole ceiling collapses in front of them, but that never made it. That was a shot I was quite proud of, actually, it worked really, really well.

Other deleted scenes from The Force Awakens include a snowspeeder chase, more aerial dogfighting, and Kylo Ren stepping on to the Millenium Falcon.
JJ Abrams confirmed there will be no extended edition of Episode VII, though fans can expect to see deleted scenes when it comes to home video.
