Many families would hire babysitters to look after their children for many reasons. Whether it be for date nights, vacation, illness, or anything. But then, there's these babysitters. For this post, here are the top 5 babysitters you shouldn't consider calling on your next date night.

1. David McGreavy

Dubbed "The Monster of Worchester"; in 1973, David was asked to look after the three youngest children by his family in Worchester, England. Instead, he gruesomely murdered the children and took them out to the garden railing, where they were impaled and put on display. He was arrested the same day and was sentenced to life in prison. In 2009, he was granted anonymity to prevent anymore sexual assault while in prison. He has unsuccessfully applied for parole 9 times so far and is most likely he will plead again in the near future.

2. Karl McClunney

On July 30, 2009, Karl was 15 when he was asked to look after two-year-old Demi Leigh Mahon for an hour and a half while her mother ran errands, including buying a birthday card for Karl. When Demi and Karl returned from the park, he kicked, punched and bit Demi, leaving her with 68 injuries and suffering brain damage. When her mother returned, Karl was watching TV but her daughter was barely alive and taken to the hospital. Demi was taken off life support two days later. Karl was found guilty for his crime and was sentenced to 15 years in prison, having being tried as a minor. Karl had a low IQ and came from a broken home. The only apparent motive for this brutal infanticide is that Demi was annoying him.

3. Michael Plumadore

Nine year old Aliahna Lemmon and her two sisters were being looked after by their neighbor, Plumadore, due to their mother who was sick, and their father worked nights. On December 23, 2011, Aliahna went missing. Plumadore told police that she had left his trailer and gone back home on her own. The following Thursday, the FBI became involved, and Plumadore admitted that he had beaten Aliahna with a brick then worked through the night with a hacksaw to dismember her body. When he was done, he froze her head, hands and feet for unknown reasons, and disposed the rest of the body in a dumpster. Plumadore had no motive for the killing despite the other two girls were left unharmed. Originally he was faced with the death sentence for the crime, but upon pleading guilty, this was changed to life in prison without parole.

4. Elzbieta Plackowaska

On October 30, 2012, Elzbieta was looking after her friends’ five-year-old daughter, Olivia, along with her own seven-year-old, Justin. That night, she stabbed her son 100 times, and Olivia 50 times, killing both of them. After being arrested, Plackowska kept changing her story. At first, she denied having murdered the children, claiming somebody broke in and killed them while she was out for a smoke. The second story was that she admitted to killing them because she thought they were possessed by the devil. Later, “the devil” was replaced by “the evil of society.” She also claimed to have heard voices in her head using her father’s recent passing as an excuse for her instability. Ultimately, she admitted to murdering Justin in order to get revenge on her husband and killed Olivia because she had witnessed the murder. Artur Plackowski was a truck driver, and consequently spent a lot of time away from home. Elzbieta said he took her for granted and ruined their marriage. In spite of her many confessions, Elzbieta pleaded not guilty in November 2012 and is currently jailed without bail.

5. Yoselyn Ortega

Yoselyn was only 52 years old when she was hired by the Krim family to look after their three children. Their mother, Marina Krim was picking up her third child, Nessie, from a swimming lesson when she returned to find her children dead in the bathtub. Yoselyn was lying beside the children, having cut her throat in a suicide attempt. Six-year-old Lucia and one-year-old Leo, had been stabbed to death by Ortega. She and the children were taken to hospital, where she was stabilized but they were pronounced dead. In a recent update last year, she was deemed fit to stand trial and if found guilty she would be sentenced to life in prison for two counts of first degree murder.
