Hayden Panettiere looked positively triumphant at the People's Choice awards in her first red carpet appearance after seeking treatment for postpartum depression.
The 26-year-old Nashville star attended a psychiatric treatment facility back in October after struggling with the mental illness following the birth of her daughter, Kaya, and it's heartwarming to see how happy and healthy she is looking after such a difficult time.
Panettiere has openly spoken out about her battle with postpartum depression in a bid to encourage other women to seek treatment and not feel ashamed about the feelings they are having. The 26-year-old actor told Entertainment Weekly that she was "surprised" at the outpouring of support she has received for her honesty, she explained:
"I've gotten an incredible amount of support and I was actually really surprised cause I feel like I grew up in this industry that, in my mind, was very judgmental. I didn't even look at social media. Then, when I looked, people were like, 'Oh my gosh, good for you,' and I am so proud to be a spokesperson and a woman that people can look to and to know that they're not alone and they're not weak if they go and they seek help."
The Heroes star made her first public appearance since her treatment back in November at her fiancé Wladimir Klitschko's World Title boxing fight and she has shared positive steps in her recovery with her fans, including the Twitter post from December which reads:
Despite the tough times she has been through recently, Panettiere seemed to be in high spirits and she even took a micro scooter for a spin to have a little fun at the star-studded event:
So glad to see this courageous spokesperson is feeling more like her usual self.
